Tabula Rasa

Post by Avestan »

Was looking for a casual online game and this seems like a pretty good fit. Played to level 15 and am having a good time (server = Cassiopeia). Anyone else try it?

I really wanted to like this game but I just couldn't get into it.

Same. I played a few days in beta but nothing hooked me. There wasn't enough customization for my liking. Everyone looked the same.

Same. I downloaded the beta towards the end and tried to play it, but the graphics blew and it seemed boring as shit. I lasted no more than an hour.

I fits my needs perfectly right now. I have almost no time and you can easily pick this up in 15 minute chunks and kill about 100 things if you want. It definitely does not have the depth of other games, but I find it fun for now.

I loved it during beta. I played it about the same as stan though. It was nice for small chunks of playtime, similar to what I used to play City of Heroes/Villains for. Yes, the graphics could be better, but I was not looking for the next cool program that would force me to upgrade my comp 5x to play. :) I might pick this up, but I can't justify paying the current full price for something that I would play in that casual of a manner.

The Tabula Rasa team have announced that Tabula Rasa will end live service on February 28, 2009:

"Last November we launched what we hoped would be a ground breaking sci-fi MMO. In many ways, we think we've achieved that goal. Tabula Rasa has some unique features that make it fun and very different from every other MMO out there. Unfortunately, the fact is that the game hasn't performed as expected. The development team has worked hard to improve the game since launch, but the game never achieved the player population we hoped for."

I wonder if it had anything to do with Garriot leaving...or maybe it was only left up because he was still around.

Because it didn't have its own forum.

This never would have happened if WoW didn't suck so much.
