Emoticons and you!

No holds barred discussion. Someone train you and steal your rare spawn? Let everyone know all about it! (Not for the faint of heart!)

Emoticons and you!

Post by Abelard »

My friend pm'd me today about the use of :~. She had no idea what the :~ means. Then I got to thinking that I don't really know if there is any direct definition of the emoticon smileys.

This thread is dedicated to appreciating emoticons and sharing your own personal definition of the emoticon(s) of your choice.

Heres an example!

Well, I don't know if this is the official definition of the :~ face, but here is its personal meaning to me.

It has the same connontation of saying oh my or oh dear or even oh, I see.

It can/should be used when you say something to someone online that could be construed as negative and you don't wish them too. ie. letting them know that you're not intentionally trying to be mean - :) and :D are also acceptable in that situation. I also use it sometimes if someone corrects me (and is nice about it).

Why use emoticons when you can use gifs to express your feelings though?
