Dogfighting

Post by Xyun »

I know there's some discussion of this in the sports forum regarding Michael Vick. But most of that discussion has to do with Michael Vick and not so much dog fighting and its merits (if any exist). I think Senator Robert Byrd pretty much sums up my opinion about the entire spectacle.

So glad to have men like this in the senate.

Care to sum up for those of us at work?

I think that dogfighting is kind of barbaric and don't see any merit in it.

If Byrd takes that same position, then I agree with him.

Animals should only be killed when they're going to be eaten or there is legitimate scientific research advanced through it.

While I agree............................................agree...................................agree with the senators position on dogfighting I have to ask: How much are we paying this senile fucking milkshake? This guy is at least 5 years past needing to be in a nursing home, and how come every single seat in view behind him is empty? This seems like a pretty good example of some of the things that are wrong with our government.

You don't own any "Save the Whales" t-shirts, I'm thinking.

He's not senile. He's not past needing to be in a nursing home. He's probably filibustering something. Look at some other videos of Byrd. Here's a youtube video of him at an interview on Larry King: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMgpF3yVBmE

Also, the seats behind the orator are reserved for leadership on both sides when a bill is pending the floor (that is, the leadership of the subcommittee proposing the bill...the actual senate leaders sit on either side of the big podium thingy). Otherwise they remain empty. Sometimes, the Veep sits up there since he's required to be at some senate functions, being the official President of the Senate and all.

If I wanted to watch criminals on television I would watch cops. But since I despise that show as well I'll stick with comedy central thank you. :D

And please, no leet speak, it makes my eyes bleed.

BTW, if anyone thinks I am knocking on that guy because he's a democrat think again. As far as I'm concerned I believe the majority of politicians are criminals, regardless of affiliation.

Even before the present hoopla, I had to give up dogfighting.
They were kicking my ass.

I know people that raise pit bulls to fight. I hate it, but I just refuse to watch it. They dont let the dogs kill each other though, they stop it before then. It is still wrong though, Pitt Bulls can be such sweet dogs if you raise them right. My brother had one that was the most obedient dog we have ever had. She was very gentle as well. She was even ok with my mom's 2 lb teacup chihuahua.
