Saw an advance screener for it yesterday afternoon,
What an absolutely fun movie.
You could tell the actors had a lot of fun making the movie...
Nikki Blonsky made a better Tracy Turnblad than Ricki Lake (who had a small cameo near the end).
John Water's cameo was pretty funny
Jerry Stiller had a small role
Christopher Walken was awesome
John Travolta was very entertaining
Amanda Bynes wan't annoying (!!)
Queen Latifah wasn't obnoxious
Michelle Pfeiffer still looks good
James Marsden was outstanding... he stole every scene he was in.
There really wasn't anything I disliked about it.
If you're into cheesy/campy musicals or were a fan of the original movie, this is a must see.

Re: Hairspray!
I honestly can't think of a movie I'd less like to see. I kind of hate John Travolta and everything that I've seen regarding this movie that has him in it makes me want to punch a baby.
I'm sorry for stepping into this thread and providing nothing of value, but my hatred compels me.

Guess that saves me from having to watch it.miir wrote:If you're into cheesy/campy musicals or were a fan of the original movie, this is a must see.
(Travolta is a bit of a freak but I don't hate him or anything. I think he's a decent actor.)

Re: Hairspray!
I'd be more interested in this if John Waters directed it. I'll watch it on video, but it takes a lot to get me to tolerate a trip to the movie theater these days (grumble grumble fucking kids grumble grumble stupid prices grumble grumble).

Is it against the rules to question Miir's sexuality based on his review of this movie?
