E3 - Press conferences.

Post by Animalor »

Well I watched the MS one and although it was interesting, there wasn't any real "HOLY FSCK" for me in the whole thing.

They took a real focus to what is going to be happening with the 360 this year and holiday season 2007.

There was a lot of great new trailers shown last night too. CoD4, Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, GTA 4, Halo3 to make a few.
The playthrough demos of CoD4 and Assassin's Creed were freaking amazing.

I've never played a Resident Evil game however the RE5 announcement was big news.

The Halo3 themed 360 announcement kinda flopped with the crowd. It's green with a gold colored DVD drive, Halo 3 isn't bundled(I believe) with it and there's a bunch of Halo accessories in the box. You could literally hear the crickets.

XBox Live Video Marketplace is finally coming to Canada and Europe this fall, (This was my high point of the presentation personally. Real happy bout that one)

Disney signed a big contract with MS for it's movies on the Video Marketplace. Here's the list over at Major Nelson. I believe they are all available in both HD and SD. They're all available now.

Sonic the Hedgehog and Golden Axe are both on XBLA as of last night as well. 400 points each.

A decent effort overall for MS. Won't be voted best Media Event by the blogs by any streatch unless Sony and Nintendo really drop the ball. It was simple, to the point and showcased Holiday 2007.

(Oh, and the Blue Dragon and Ace Combat 6 demoes are up NOW)

Well I skipped the Nintendo one in favor of lunch with a couple of co-workers.

As for the sony one, I tried for about 45 minutes to connect ot the Sony one via 1up, Gamespot, G4TV and Playstation.com to get to the Sony one but no go.

I heard that there was a lot of gmae trailers, demoes, WiiFit will make you and your kids not fat anymore and hte PSP has a new redesign out that looks exactly like the old one but will feature a much lighter weight, AV connection to your TV as well as longer battery life.

MGS4 is still a PS3 exclusive, UT3 is exclusive to the PS3 for this year. Sony showed a lot of the same games that MS showed last night. A lot of the comments on various blogs peg all pressers are pretty boring, with Nintendo showing the least games in the lot and MS and Sony doing sensibly the same quality-wise.

I am super excited about CoD4. Thank god Infinity Ward is making this CoD game, and I can forget the trash that was CoD3.

Yeah, I am seriously looking forward to COD4 as well. I have been checking out CharlieOscarDelta.com quite often for more news about the upcoming 360 multiplayer beta, but I will probably pick this one up on the PC if/when it is available.

That looks awesome. I think I'll ask for a 360 for Xmas now, just for that game alone.

This is new today from a different event:
Final Fantasy XIII only 13% complete

Still a while off yet.

According to information from the PlayStation Premier event held in Tokyo, the next installment in the popular Japanese-RPG series Final Fantasy still has a long way to go before it’s ready to be released, with Final Fantasy XIII apparently only 13% complete so far.

In other Final Fantasy XIII related news, spin-off title Final Fantasy Versus XIII is currently only slated with a 1.3% completion. Despite both titles still being a while off yet, Square Enix has provided us with one screenshot from each game – the Final Fantasy XIII screenshot can be found in the Media Panel and the Final Fantasy Versus XIII screenshot can be found here.

At this rate, we can probably expect Final Fantasy XIII to be ready sometime in 2011.
and this:
Lastly, Square-Enix showed new footage for Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. This will be shown at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show event and a realtime demonstration will be expected sometime next year.
Not even realtime demos until next year? FFXIII will be lucky to make the Holiday season of 2008 if this is accurate.
