Online Grocery Store?
I have no desire to go to the store to get toilet paper, paper plates and soap (which are about all I need right now) and was looking for somewhere to order them that could get them here in a day or two. I looked at Amazon's Grocery beta, and it looks like they only want to sell me a case of packages of toilet paper for like $50, and I don't know that I need a year's supply right now. Though I suppose it'll get used.
Anyone here use an online grocery store? I mean a big one that will deliver nationally rather than a local one that only delivers to your neighborhood. Any that any of you are particularly for/against?

Maybe WalMart? Never looked at their online thing but seems like something they'd do. I've ordered non-food items from CVS online before when there was a $10 off coupon. But their prices in general aren't the cheapest. If you actually want to know about groceries (ie food) then I don't know!

In Toronto, we have a service called Grocery Gateway.
They have a decent selection, quick delivery and they are pretty reasonably priced.
I don't think they deliver to Michigan.

I was amazed 3 years ago when fully half the traffic on the 401(?) between Toronto and Sarnia was garbage trucks hauling crap all the way to Michigan to dump.

Go to Costco and buy all that shit in bulk. Store it in a closet somewhere, and you shouldn't need to buy TP for at least a year or more. It's cheaper that way, too. =)
Re: Online Grocery Store?
I've bought stuff like that from Amazon, though I usually get it from Costco. Either way, I always get TP, paper towels, etc. in bulk.
Re: Online Grocery Store?
Doesn't seem practical to order TP mail order.
Costco seems the best way to go for mass paper products.
Never looked, but does Costco have tampons in 1000 count boxes or something? If I wasn't a man-gina, that'd be the first thing I'd buy a lifetime supply of.

it's definitely the one thing i don't want to run out of. i can usually substitute kleenex (or paper towels if i'm really in a bind) for TP but tampons are a different story.Winnow wrote:Never looked, but does Costco have tampons in 1000 count boxes or something? We use their Peapod service on occasion for stuff that's not meat or fruit/veggies and it works pretty well. The delivery charge isn't much of anything and you can use coupons. The only problem is if the person can't find an item in stock, it's sometimes replaced sometimes not but either way, you're not notified that it's missing until the delivery arrives. It's worked well for us in a pinch and I believe they have stores all over the country.
