who would win
hmm id say bruce lee, but would be fun as fuck to watch those 2 styles collide, and no i cant spell for shit
Lee > Ali
First of all, there's a reason you've never seen a boxer win an Ultimate Fighting Championship. Boxing only works when someone stands toe-to-toe with you. How are you gonna upper-cut someone who is foot-sweeping you? How can you jab someone who is 2 inches from you? I don't think it's a quickness issue as much as it is a fighting-style issue. In all honesty, grappling > all else IMO.
Second, his momma called him Clay, I'm gonna call him Clay.

Seriously no contest here. Bruce Lee would win. Ali would have to take Lee to the floor and choke him out to win and I don't think Ali has any wrestling skills.
I can't stand fake WWF wrestling but I do watch Ultimate Fighting on DirecTV when I happen to see them and my Access Card hack is up and running : ) Watching the "no rules" fighting in the octagon contests really shows what it takes to win a fight. The big guys don't win unless they get lucky punches...they usually get choked out or lose due to submission to pressure points.

Pure speculation on my part, but I'd bet that Bruce Lee did some sparring against real people, and as such had to be able to take a punch (or kick or whatever) somewhat. Even though Ali probably hit like a ton of bricks, how much harder do you think he could punch than someone could kick? My guess is that Bruce wouldn't go down in one punch.

Grappling beats striking. Combo of both is best, which is why UFC stinks now- everyone knows everything so there's no more specialists. Boxing beats karate (or whatever) for striking, especially the best heavyweight to ever put on the gloves. You can't foot sweep a boxer. You certainly couldn't even come close to sweeping Ali. Some 5'10 150 martial artist would break his fist/foot on a boxer's skull. Boxers have paramount striking defense. As someone who has 8 years of Tae Kwon Do training, i wouldn't even think of taking on a boxer. The most notable martial artist probably wouldn't want to take on the most notable heavyweight boxer either.Shaerra wrote:Lee > Ali

Chuck Lidell (Iceman - UFC) is from my small little town. He used to bartend at my favorite hangout. He a damn nice guy believe it or not. It's pretty fucking weird when a small hometown boy goes BIGTIME. All those years of getting picked on, now he beats ass for a living......

WTF?Aaeamdar wrote:hmm, actor whose every fight was choreographed vs. one of the best heavy weight boxers. Tough call.
Bruce Lee was not an actor.
He was a martial artist who happened to make some movies.
Anyway, if both were in their heyday, Bruce Lee would be a hands down winner... for the simple fact that Kung-Fu/Wing Chun is a much more complete discipline than boxing.
Ali could punch and defend against punches, there's no doubt about that... but facing an asenal of kicks, holds, chops/punches and counters in martial arts, he would have no defense.
Martial arts teaches defense against all different types of attacks and someone with the agility and mobility of Bruce Lee would be impossible to hit by a heavyweight like Ali.
No disrepect to Ali but a Pugilist vs. Martial Artist is like a B1 vs F15

Have any of you ever seen the pseudo-documentary "When we were kings"? There is a certain part when they are showing George Foreman (in his prime) working out on a 250 pound heavy bag(after already having to replace the standard 200 pound bag because he was tearing them up too fast).. He was hitting that bag with so much force that it was lifting his trainer off the ground while he was trying to hold it steady. He was going thru a heavy bag every two or three days - literaly tearing them to shreads.
Ali took those punches from Foreman until Foreman couldn't throw them anymore. He stood there and let George beat on him with every ounce of strength he could muster round after round. Then he stood up pushed him off and knocked his ass out.
For all of you that think Lee would win hands down, you better think again. Ali may not have been as quick, and he may not have been as spry. But he could take a beating and he could dish some damage. Its a toss up imo, either one could get a lucky shot in. Stage this fight 10 times, I bet they would have split 5-5.

That's true Gak but unless they were boxing rules, Ali couldn't sit there and cover up and take blows...Lee would be busting his kneecaps, the arch of is foot or going for the choke with his speed.
It would be a great series of fights and nothing is a sure thing as one solid punch from Ali would do serious damage.

Like Gak said, just watch the old tapes of him fighting back in the day. You would never ever believe a guy that size could move like that. He wasn't your flat-footed rock chin heavyweight like that russian monster that has been tearing up the ranks these days.
Edit: Royce fights were just amazing. Legendary really

Bruce Lee wasn't just an actor. He was a world champion martial artist that developed his own style that is still one of the world's most popular arts.
Ali would probably beat him in a structured bout, but probably would lose in a more street fight-type fight. Although I can't believe this is actually being debated.

I saw an Ali fight in person. Ali vs Holmes. Holmes kicked the shit out of him but then again it was Ali's last comeback attempt so I didn't get to see him in his prime.Chidoro wrote:Like Gak said, just watch the old tapes of him fighting back in the day. After the fight, I remember running into Tony Danza in the mad crush of people entering Caesar's Palace to gamble or collect winnings. He's short...like Charles Bronson short. I was pretty young at the time and was still taller than him. Bruce Lee > Tony Danza
Anyway, the next time I saw Ali was quite a few years later in a mall bookstore...he was sitting by himself...no line...waiting to sign his book for people. It was sorta sad to see. I didn't buy his book though as I was a Larry Holmes fan. : ) A little while after that, he regained his popularity a bit. It's a shame his condition doesn't allow him to speak as he seemed pretty entertaining in his prime.

Short is anything I want it to be. Is there a fucking guideline to shortness? Quit adding inches to people. The way you liberally add numbers to things your fiance is probably up to a whopping 3 inches now in your fantasies.kyoukan type-R wrote:That isn't short. Are you stupid?
I don't care about any national averages either so hold onto those statistics.

how could you not care about averages? Averages are what we human beings use to discern abnormalities in things. ie. a person who is over the average would be taller, and a person who is under would be shorter. What fucking bizzare stupidity do you use?
Every time you post you look more and more stupid.

I wasn't relating it to averages and I mentioned Charles Bronson who is the exact same height as Tony Danza in my thread for comparison. Get a grip on yourself. He was short to me. You don't know my height thus Charles Bronson was used for comparison.
Jeeze. Your the one that pumped up Charle's height as if it mattered.
Jeeze. Your the one that pumped up Charle's height as if it mattered.
what the fuck is the matter with you are you pretending to be stupid in order to get into fights with people?
I'm just under 5 feet tall. I don't go around calling people who are 5'6 tall because 5'6 is not a tall person. People on the internet don't know how tall I am and even if they did, calling somebody tall in relation to myself makes no sense because people have no frame of reference.
You can't seriously be this dumb.
