Company of Heroes : Opposing Fronts announced

two new factions for a total of Four..

Americans (previously 'Allies')
Wermacht (previously 'Axis')
British (2nd Army)
"Panzer Elite" (prolly intended to be the SS-Panzerkorps which had two divisions involved with Market Garden but cant be mentioned due to Nazism)

Each faction will have its own full campaign (previously you could only play as the Allies in campaign mode). The Panzer Elite and British 2nd Army factions probably have campaigns focused on Operation Market Garden which is sexy as hell.

CoH fizzled due to a short campaign mode and a horrible multiplayer interface.. I'm really excited that Relic is bringing what is easily the most technically impressive and well designed RTS ever made up to the plate again. Hopefully they won't fuck it up this time and the gaming community will latch on and stick around

Also.. its DX10.. which is nice.. but if they dont provide alternative DX9 rendering this shits gonna hit the cement face first.

Standalone Title Scheduled to Ship with Upgraded Essence Engine in Fall 2007

AGOURA HILLS, Calif., Apr 05, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- THQ Inc. (NASDAQ:THQI) today announced Company of Heroes(TM): Opposing Fronts(TM), the next chapter in the groundbreaking real-time strategy (RTS) franchise, from internal studio Relic Entertainment, is scheduled to launch in fall 2007 for Windows PC. Powered by the proprietary Essence Engine and Microsoft DirectX(R) 10, Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts allows players to fight as the tenacious British 2nd Army during the heroic World War II liberation of Caen, France, and command the German Panzer Elite as they struggle to repel the largest airborne invasion in history. Players can battle online in exciting new multiplayer modes with these two all-new armies and utilize full compatibility with the original Company of Heroes(TM) for a total of four playable armies.

I was hoping for a Jap faction. If they're going to stay on the European front, a Russian faction would've been a great option, not just more Germans.

I look forward to this though!

Bah, a RTS expansion with no alien races? Sucks.
