Greatest RPG Ever
Okay, I'm slowly going to begin un-stickying the nomination threads and making polls for them. Polls will run for 7 days. Which is the greatest RPG ever?

While I really enjoy Final Fantasy type games, I don't really consider them to be true RPGs.
You play them as a preset character.
You really don't get to choose your character class or your appearance.
There is nothing unique about the character you play or the story that you play though, making it a pretty generic experience. It's pretty much the exact same game for everyone who plays it.
My vote went to Fallout 2.
I loved the atmosphere in the game. It was creepy, desolate and unsettling. The character customization was very innovative. While the overall story was the same each time you played through it, many encounters would have a vastly different (and sometimes hillarious) outcome based on your character skills and traits.
Your character was unique and usually very flawed. This (for me) made the game much more enjoyable and personal experience.
I think that's one of the most important aspects of an RPG.

Animalor, I don't remember which, but one of the early two games was incredibly buggy. I wouldn't doubt you only made in ten minutes in.
Oblivion and Morrowind would have gotten my vote simply for the toolset. I must have put three times the amount of time into Morrowind simply playing maps and dungeons created by other players.

Daggerfall was the buggy one. Arena had a few, but they were mostly exproits. There was one where you could get a monster around a corner from you to just barely stick out, then beat it till it was dead without it ever fighting back. Daggerfall was more of a "WTF!?! I fell through the floor AGAIN!?!" sort of buggy.
And, for the record, Morrowind is still one of my favorite games of all time. I'm pretty sure I have that game completely discovered (including the talking mudcrab merchant), but I get surprised from time to time. I haven't played it in about 6 months, but the character I'm using is forbidden to use weapons or armor or thieves tools, only magic. It was tough in the beginning, but now it is kind of crazy how powerful he is. Bah... now I wanna start a new character.....

I still have it installed.
I can't let myself get sucked back into that game.
