Anyone heard of/used TVersity? Supposedly allows you to stream any media (including podcasts) from your PC to any number of devices, including Xbox 360. I'm going to check it out, just wondered if anyone else had any experience with it.

I use it to send TV shows I download from my PC to my xbox 360 so I can watch them on my big screen TV. It was fucking hair pulling to set up, but once I got it going, it was great.

Forgive me for being a caveman, but didn't the slingbox that came out a year ago do the same thing? Or was that simple audio/video?

I thought the slingbox was a piece of hardware?

This is a software solution, and is free.

Does it work pretty well with all formats?

Ahh, it is. Sorry, like I said, I'm a caveman with regards to TV (and related) technologies.

I don't even have a TV right now! ><

I use this to stream to my 360. It works by on the fly converting whatever filetype you have to wmv. Great job.

I played around with Tversity for streaming to my 360, and just video/audio content in general. A lot of potential wrapped up in that little gem.

The issue I ran into is, I have an existing media server running on Win 2k3 (just sharing at the moment). Tversity requires Windows Media Player 11, or at least it did when i was messing with it, and as far as I know, WM11 isn't available for 2k3.

I've sent movies in DivX, mpg etc. I've even had a few files with AC3 sound and that worked fine as well.

It did take a bit of screwing around to get it to work on Vista but if you have XP Media Center 2005 installing and running it is pretty painless.

I fucked around with this thing for like 5 hours trying to get my 360 to recognize that it was even running, and couldn't get that far so I uninstalled it. I shut down every other Windows media sharing/extender I could find running and it still would not find it.

I can access it via localhost:port so I know it is working, but the Xbox sure couldn't find it.
