Iron Man

Post by Keverian FireCry »

The site is up and more cast has been released

http://www.ironmanmovie.com

Robert Downey Jr. = Tony Stark/Iron
Terrence Howard = Jim Rhodes/War-Machine
Gwyneth Paltrow = Virginia Potts(Stark's secretary)
Jeff Bridges = Business associate of Stark

Looking good so far. Could do w/ out Gwyneth Paltrow, but Jeff Bridges makes up for that and more!

Iron Man's not low in the pool. He's one of the original Avengers! He's also one of the two key players in the recent Marvel Civil War.

Ghost Rider was digging low.

Agreed. Ghost Rider wasn't a major comic in any way shape or form compared to the other super heroes. I'd really love to see an Avengers movie. That was the first super hero group comic I ever read. They would be major whereas groups like the Defenders and Champions would be digging.

Ghostrider has made $56,831,163 so far. They could care less what you comic nerds think is "digging low".

Only 70 million to go before it breaks even.

If that's supposed to indicate that Ghost Rider is a 'good' movie, keep in mind that Norbit has made over $64 million (with a meager budget of $60m)...

By predating the comic book supergroup by a good 10-20 years?

The TV Series wasn't 10-20 years before the comic but did predate it:

TV-Series 1961-1969

The Avengers 1964-present

The Wasp didn't get her name in the headlines on the front cover and then she's the victim of spousal abuse by her husband Hank (Ant Man) Pym to boot!

Jack Kirbys Hulk and Iron Man was the shiznit!

Hulk looks like a green frankenstein monster and Iron looks like Gort from "The Day when Earth Stood Still" from 1951 :D

Are you saying Norbit isn't a good movie? Why? BECAUSE IT'S ABOUT A BLACK MAN?!?!

j/k. Sorry it sounded funny in my head!

Iron is one of the major heroes in Marvel.

There was a time when he was even more popular than Thor!

Nobody beats Spideys popularity in the early 2000's tho.

Hulk was all the rage in the 70's and 80's.

Yeah, I don't understand how you can call it 'digging'. It's a totally valid points if we're discussing, Blade, Man-Thing, or even Ghost Rider, but Ironman was a major character in the Marvel universe and always has been.

I'm actually incredibly impressed with the casting for the movie. It's almost like someone at Marvel gave it some thought for a change...

I love, love, love Favreau, and have since Swingers...

But I am in NO way sold on Favreau as a director... His best work to date is ELF for God's sake.

ELF was good though! I have a ton of faith in Favreau. Watching him on Dinner for Five makes me think he could do anything.
