All bullshit aside... who's going to be playing?
I'm going to pick it up.
I saw enough potential in beta that I think it's gonna be a half decent game (eventually)... and it's included on soe station access.
Do we have any info on server names yet?
I got the preorder so I'll be making a character tonight and post what server I am on.

I'm gonna be passing on this one.
As much as I respected that Brad did back when Verant had control of Everquest, there's a couple of factors that will make me skip.
Massive MMO burnout would be the first thing, limited budget is the 2nd and SoE would be the third.
I have huge respect for what they did with EQ2. They have a stellar game there and I personally would play this one with the new expansion before I played WoW again but they have fucked up too many properties to be trusted.
Maybe 6 months to a year down the line when they have shit fixed up and I don't have to deal with the glaring launch bugs I might give this one a spin. (Didn't regret waiting for EQ2 when I was hearing people talking about how shitty it used to be.)
For now my 15$ a month gaming budget is going to stay with gameaccess.ca.

Miir will you be able to play it with your station pass thingy, or do you have to pay a separate sub for it?
Like you, I'm not really jazzed about the game. But I can see the potential.
It's not good enough to pull me away from EQ2 but I'd like to keep track of what's going on with it. So a couple days a week or whatever.

Don't plan on playing. And don't have the access pass thingie.
The access pass is actually a good deal. I think that's one of the smart things Sigil actually did in regards to the MS -> SOE move. I think they'll have a lot more people buying it 'just to try out' as they're not paying out an additional monthly fee.

Since it's on the station pass, I'll probably keep checking in periodically, and I may end up giving it more time if they ever get it to the point where it loses most of the annoying problems that it still has. I think the game has potential, but as things stand now, it's a long way from what I'm willing to play.

It looks like McQuaid never gave up the source code rights to EQ. Deep inside the logic where only the bearded gurus see with their mechanical mind's eye, the old bugs are there, only now they're level 72.
The 'card playing' schtick with the diplomacy is kinda cute, but are we gonna get 'magic the gathering' dweebs in game now?
BTW, they released early, it's online live today right f'ing now.

I'm gonna have to wait until the resurging addiciton to WoW fades a bit. Maybe once I've seen the 70 content and new raid game.

No idea yet... never got to play my beta account much because my machine wouldn't play it... but it should scream on my new system AND I'm out of character slots in EQ2 so I'm thinking about getting the pass thingy anyway so I might pick it up.
If I do, let me know what server you are going to be on Miir and I'll make sure to play there.
All that being said though, I don't see anything pulling me away from EQ2 right now. I finally got Mathis (my monk) to 60 last night and I upgraded my wifes PC so now my son can play EQ2 on that one and we have been playing together a couple of nights a week. He loves it and it's fun re-exploring all the areas with a 4 year old for whom everything is so fantanstic. I've also realized that a Paladin and a Fury make a pretty good team as well!

Every other thread in this forum has been devoted to people whining, crying and bitching about the game.
If you're not playing, fuck off. Start your own thread to cry about Vanguard.
This thread is for people who will be playing to let other people know who they are and on what server.

OK... well by scream I mean more than 5fps
My friend just built a new system (he went by Kashi in EQ) and his is running 40-50 fps, the only difference is he has a GTX and I have a GTS... should make some difference but it should be much better than what I had. Runs Oblivion like a champ... didn't make a huge difference in EQ2 but that's because the engine is outdated and dosen't take advantage of the new hardware on the GPU... maybe someday they will update it since Nvidia freakin' sponsors the damn game!... doubt it but maybe!

Yes Miir I have
With an OC E6400, 2GB of DDR2-800 and an 8800 GTS I expected much better performance than I'm getting in EQ2. However I will admit that the max textures and HDL looks nice when it works...
Still undecided on Vanguard, will probably wait a few months at least. As I said, having a ton of fun in EQ2 at the moment.

Playing a Wood Elf Ranger named .. Midgen.. on Hilsbury.
Guilded with some friends from the new/old Rangers Glade.
I'm rather enjoying being a complete newb again. The g/f and I are having a lot of fun with it.
Just to see what it looked like, I turned the graphics all the way up to highest quality while on a platform in Cial Breal. It brought my system to its knees (sub 5fps), but damn it was beautiful. I can't wait until my hardware catches up the game engine.
McQuaid posted that he expects the graphic engine to be converted to DX10 at the first expansion late 2007. They also plan to release a 64bit client for Vista at that time. Yummy! =)
Edit: By the end of next week, I should be playing on a E6700 lightly OC'd with a 8800GTX and 2G of RAM.

Picked it up for a try since I quit WoW recently and was going stir crazy without a game to play. I'll make a character on some server or another; if a guild happens and I decide to keep playing I'll probably go there.

There's a bunch of veeshanites on Targonor in PD.
We've already put up level and playtime requirements for guild membership but we're probably gonna start an alt guild that's lax on reqs.
Anyway, if you start a character on Targ, shoot me a tell on Effie.

I went ahead and made a Vulmane Ranger named Traz (shock) on Woefeather. I'm currently tooling around my starting town and avoiding adventure quests while I check out other parts of the game.
I'm checking out the craft system a bit today, as an Artificer.
Diplomacy is pretty cool, got to skill 49 in my first major town, and there was a surprising amount of story built around it. Very nice. I can't wait to see the rewards.

I'm still trying to find my niche, started a high elf cleric and did some adventuring up to 11 the other day. Then went into town and started blacksmithing to see how the trade skills were. So far the only complaints I have are,
1) Very high requirements to run any decent amount of graphics. I have a laptop right now with 2 gigs pc4200 memory, a 256mb dedicated vid card(at work can't check exactly), 64bit 2.2ghz processor AMD, and I still have to turn everything down to 0 to run.
2) The mapping sucks, the map is lacking OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of detail, no mini-map(thats ok though) and it wouldn't be so bad if the towns and land weren't so fricken huge and seemless. Only saving grace is the waypoints and dots put on the map from quest NPC's.
3) Things still broken that were promised to be a go on live launch, *cough* fellowship, some quests are still bugged, things dissapear then reappear when fighting etc etc.
But... I must admit it has a shit load of potential. Once they patch this a few more times I can definately see the improvements i'm looking for and could fall in love with this game.
Names Runeflinger, add me to friends if your on woefeather and give me a tell.

Yea, the game is very unfinished.
But even at that, it's so very much fun.
I don't understand the problems youre having with performance.
Make sure your video drivers and directX up to date?
One thing that can provide a HUGE performance boost is defragging your hard drive.
Google some vgclient.ini tweaks
