The attack on the US Embassy in Greece

Post by Nick »

Blast at U.S. embassy called 'terrorism'

ATHENS, Greece - A rocket struck the U.S. Embassy early Friday, exploding inside the modern, glass-fronted building but causing no injuries in an attack that Greek authorities said was probably carried out by a domestic terrorist group.

The small anti-tank missile narrowly missed the large blue-and-white U.S. seal on the embassy's facade and pierced the building above the front entrance shortly before 6 a.m. It damaged a bathroom on the third floor near the ambassador's office and shattered windows in nearby buildings.

"There were no injuries and very minimal damage," U.S. Ambassador Charles Ries told reporters outside the embassy.

The 2.36-inch rocket, which police said was a weapon probably fired from a Russian-made launcher, struck a large marble beam on the third floor of the embassy, just above and to the left of the seal. It shattered a window and landed near some toilets.
No one was hurt so really it was just a lame attempt at getting some revenge or whatever against the Americans yadda yadda yadda. TO be expected.

What pisses me off is the standard of reporting on yahoo. Don't get me wrong, I realise their headlines are meant to just be quick snippet updates on what's happening so you can go find out more from somewhere a bit more reputable, but the title of this headline is just so fucking retarded I had to post about it and feel special on the internet.

"Blast at U.S. embassy called 'terrorism'"

As if we need to be fucking reminded that when someone attacks a US embassy with explosives it's called "terrorism", thanks for reminding us Yahoo, man I'd forgotten all about how to associate words with events until you saved me from my own ignorance.

Jesus christ.

On the upside, no one was hurt, except my delicate sensibilities.

I think it was revenge against the third floor toilet. Actually, are they sure a blast in the bathroom did not cause something to fly out the front window?

The President of Burundi has just publicly berated one of his cabinet officers. Is there trouble in paradise?

In this dangerous time the Burundi High Council shows solidarity and complete loyalty!

coup! Coup!

On a semi-serious note, if that is the AP, they should be fucking ashamed of themselves.
