Just found this little gem, it already have me drooling, a online game based in the Fallout world.
It got potential to be REALLY good, considering the quality of the first 2 Fallout games, and of course it help that its not "fantasy based elves/dwarves/humans game #42", but based in a world of its own, a world that apart from that car game that flopped dont have any other competition
It also got the possibility to REALLY stink, but well see, ill give it a shot for sure, loved the Fallout games.
I'm wondering too, what part of Fallout makes for a good MMO? Is it the discrete turn based combat, or perhaps the large (and funny) conversation trees? Perhaps it's the linear progression of an entertaining storyline?
Wait, none of the things I liked about Fallout make it an MMO... oh dear.

Hesten, I really don't mean to be picking on you, so please don't take it that way. I just have trouble understanding why people get excited about MMOGs that are not yet in a playable form. This is true especially if you consider all of the past MMOG's form and function.
I certainly understand liking a franchise/movie/game world and wanting to see more of it, but if someone tells me they're making an MMOG based on something I like my first reaction is going to be concern and apprehension not joy. In my mind, there can be no excitement about an MMOG until you or someone you trust is at a minimum, playing the beta.
My ire is directed at the people who decided making an MMOG from Fallout was a good idea, not you.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.
Isn't the company having financial issues? That could be why it's set for 2010, or it could also be a sign that they just want to sell the rights and bank what they can. I won't hold my breath on this one.

It could be the incredible atmosphere and deep amount of lore and culture surrounding the IP. Fallout is probably the single most provocative liscense I can think of to build a mmorpg universe around.
It's mostly a play for interplay to get some venture capital to becoming a company again. It will never happen. They don't even have a design document for the game and they are already predicting userbase and revenue.
