Dragonlance Movie? Who would you cast?
I have been reading the Dragonlance Movie site forums and they don't have the reader base like we do here. So I pose a question that was posed on that forum, "Who would you cast to play the roles of the main characters in Dragonlance"?
Here are some of the characters (hope I remember them all)
Tanis
Laurana
Sturm
Flint
Tasselhoff
Goldmoon
Riverwind
Raistlin
Caraman
Tika
Kitiara
Elisten
That's all I can remember atm and I prolly butchered some spelling there.

Depends what book they are covering. If they are doing Time of the Twins then I think either Arnold Schwarzenegger or a buffed up Russel Crowe would make a good Caramon. For Raistlin I would say Tom Cruise would do a good portrail of him later in the book. For the beggining Raistlin I would say the guy who played Sarumon in LOTR. Can't remember his name.
For the Kender? I think Mr. Bean would portray that role well.

Should prolly stick to the thought that these people would be playing characters that were about 25 (humanwise that is). So, though I love him, Christopher Walken wouldn't be a good choice.
One person that had been suggested in the other forum was the guy who plays Spike in the Buffy series to play Raistlin.

if you were walking around and you came upon a tulip with tits, would you let it be for the rest of the world to enjoy.. or would you pick it and carry it off to a secluded area to motorboat them?

No, they're part of the Dragonlance Chronicles. Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of Winter Night, and Dragons of Spring Dawning. They're good books, and pretty fast reads, check 'em out.

That's really a tough call. I just hope the script would be as good as the cartoon. Afterall, it wouldn't be easy trying to write a story for Hank, Bobbie, Presto, Eric, Shiela, Diana, and who could forget the little unicorn, Uni? Maybe Tiamat could save the day at the last second?!? All I know is, someone cool had better play Venger!

yeah i'd have to agree with my friend drol. Dragonlance was a good series........................when i was 13. It's hardly the greatest fantasy books ever. It's still mildly entertaining at parts. It loses OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of points with me, because it's not a truly original story....it's a transcript of gaming sessions they had with insane use of literary liscense. Then again i'm being particular.
As far as casting movies for fantasy books/series...I will say this:
This question is asked of every semi popular fantasy book/series and my answer would be the same for all.
Fresh completely unfamiliar actors for all the roles. Casting major players would take away from the characters imo. But that's just me

Krewlade, I've read every single Dragonlance book that was published before what, 1994? I loved most of the books, but calling them great literature or stating that they are the best series of fantasy is waaaaay off the target.
They're pulp, fluff, popcorn - better than most, worse than a lot.

I generally don't enjoy speaking out my ass, so I try to never do it....of course there are exceptions, but this is not one of them....If you want to try and qualify your opinion again by saying that mine is unfounded, have at it.
Otherwise agree to disagree!
