Not a bad price if it wins... Too bad it's only 1,000 units. Those wont last long.

*sigh* It was worth a shot. We were hoping to get one for my father in law. The site was totally unavailable from the 3 different PCs and two different broadband connections I was trying on from 10:57 to 11:09 PST, and once it came up they were sold out.

It makes me wonder what tweaks could have been used to actually get through an incredible bottleneck like that. Outside of a faster connection of course. Using a different browser, turning off all kinds of features to get just the bare bones?

Hopefully some of you guys got lucky. I wonder how many core systems will show up on eBay for less than retail out of that lot.

Someone on another board I frequent managed to get the deal.

Most didn't due to incredible bandwidth hogging.

There is nothing you can do on your end. It is all server side. The same thing happened on PS3 launch day on best buy's canadian site when they were putting up 10 an hour. It is just luck.

If you loved your father you'd get him a premium console anyway!

hehe, guess all of the traffic made them change a few things:
How This Works

Due to the incredible volume of traffic stemming from the popularity of this feature, we have made some changes to Amazon Customers Vote:

You are eligible to buy only the deal that you voted for.
You need an authorized credit card on your account.
There is no more race to buy: the claim codes will be distributed only to randomly selected customers.
