2nd Life goes educational

One of my Aussie friends is a teacher and uses Second Life as some sort of example in her Computer Security class. I think she mostly uses it to goof off in the clas though because she also makes her classes watch the movie "Hackers"...not exactly the best educational film on the subject!
Personally, most of the education I've seen in Second Life is alternative Sex Education but it's amazing how flexible the SL virtual world is.
Peeps should try it out at some point (it's free) just to see what it's all about as it's not going away anytime soon and the more video, etc gets integrated into the world, the easier it will be to hold virtual classes there using virtual chalkboards, powerpoint presentations, etc., all within the SL world. It's not there yet but I'd say the next generation of home computers should have the power and bandwidth to get the job done.
Right now, Second Life eats up all the CPU and GPU I can give it. (can always lower your settings though)

There are also several churches. I remember exploring and wandering into one. I was later contacted in-game by the people running it, and they just wondered how I came across it, if I would like to attend a "service" on the following Sunday, and what I thought of the "property." Apparently it is based on a real-world church, and they stream their services into Second Life.
