Michigan is moving legislation to start testing welfare sponges for drugs, and start cutting benefits for those who piss hot. Usually, I'm against drug testing, but since these are deadbeats getting high on the public dime, I am so all for it.

The 25 Democrats voting against the bill were Doug Bennett of Muskegon, Steve Bieda of Warren, Marsha Cheeks of Detroit, Brenda Clack of Flint, Paul Condino of Southfield, George Cushingberry of Detroit, Barbara Farrah of Southgate, Matt Gillard of Alpena, Lee Gonzales of Flint, Morris Hood of Detroit, Hoon-Yung Hopgood of Taylor, Tupac Hunter of Detroit, Chris Kolb of Ann Arbor, Gabe Leland of Detroit, LaMar Lemmons Jr. of Detroit, Bill McConico of Detroit, Andy Meisner of Ferndale, Fred Miller of Mount Clemens, Mike Murphy of Lansing, Jim Plakas of Garden City, Alma Wheeler Smith of Ypsilanti, Virgil Smith of Detroit, Steve Tobocman of Detroit, Aldo Vagnozzi of Farmington Hills and Mary Waters of Detroit.
I think I just solved a cold case...

On a more serious note, this bill is just fine with me. I have no problem with people wanting to get high, but they need to do it on their own dime, not mine.

I can think of a few people off the top of my head who I would love to see fall "victim" to this legislation.

Mom doesn't deserve to have kids if she uses her funds for drugs instead of feeding and clothing her children. /wink

Can't do that. The parents need the kids to turn tricks for more drug money especially if their welfare is cut off.

Well if you read the text of the bill (or maybe just the article, was much earlier today) it's at the discretion of the social workers who believe someone is on drugs. I'm all for someone smoking a joint from time to time, hell if you have kids you probably should, but I wouldn't think that would trip some social worker's spidey sense. If someone is getting high all the time to the point that another person is like "that guy is totally on drugs", they should probably cut that shit out and get their life back in order to the point that they can make a contribution to society.

Oh yeah raising a child as a ward of the state is a lot cheaper than welfare.

"loser parent"? I think you fit that bill like a fucking glove. There is no doubt in my mind that a bunch of minimum wage day nurses could raise your fucking stupid kids better than you could.

What do you have against minimum wage day nurses? Now I think Mid is an upstanding guy but in your mind he is not!! So again I ask whats wrong? you dont like people that make minimum wage? Since you compare them to someone you have no respect for!!! Again you show yoru true colors.

Actually, I'd think most people's reading comprehension would make them think that she is only making a relative judgement on Midnyte's character. Whatever it is, it's less than that of minimum wage day nurses. It isn't at all a comment on the esteem that she holds them in.

No doubt? Read what I wrote for Nick. It also works well for you, since you have such a know it all opinion on something you have no knowledge of at all. I couldn't imagine goign through life assuming I know what's best for people I don't know anything about. It's so weird because many of the stances you take and the people you bash, do exactly what you do to me. Ironic.

When you're 34 you'll consider those in their early twenties, children. There is a lot of growth on those ten years. Then again, if you don't have a family in that time, there may not be a whole lot of growth.

Yeah ummm no. The only 34 year olds that I know that would refer to someone in their early 20's as a "child" are the patronizing ones. Most can go WEEKS without having to be condescending.

Ehh, the introduction of a family to an individual makes them grow in certain ways. I would also argue that someone who chooses not to have a family grows as an individual in different ways. Both become more mature, just in different ways. Blanket statements are useful for politicians who want to be tough on crime. They don't help situations where you're trying to understand someone else, and only serve to anger the person you're talking to. Refusing to address someone's point because of their age is a copout and signifies a weakness on the part of the patronizer. Someone like that is afraid to face the arguments presented, and just prefers to use age as an excuse to close their mind.
Hypothetically, of course.

I agree. I would never refuse to address someones point because of their age. I would however temper it's meaning with the lack of experience and perspective it comes from.

Dude, I knew more about the world when I was eleven years old than you will if you live to be ninety. You pulled the age card in another lousy attempt to dodge an argument and now you look like a useless shithead again. The only one pulling the same shit over and over is you. This statement you just made, is the same statement you always make. You say a bunch of know it all derogatory stuff, with no background or counter statement at all. It is sad that you think you know so much. I hope you never find yourself in a situation where you are embarassed by this character flaw.

Age and experience does matter. If it didn't....practice wouldn't make perfect. Someones opinions and perceptions come from their realities and experiences. If that person has had 13 less years of experiences, then their opinions will show it. There will always be exceptions, but that is always the case with any arguement. A well cultured young man of 22 might have seen more and experienced more than a man of 35 who grew up in the same house, in the same town, not having many experiences at all.

I'm done poointing out logic for the same. It's sad I even need to explain such simple shit. If you could simply get past all that anger and just try to converse, these boards would be so much greater.

I think the point you're missing is that we all got that already, as has been discussed before you "even needed to explain such simple shit."

We explained it to you dumbass.

The biggest issue is that you are not one of those "well cultured experienced" people, not going by the posts you mak here anyway.

No doubt you will just go "LOL YOU'RE SO YOUGN" but in reality, you have been a hypocrite in this thread and now you're trying to tell us stuff we already informed you of 5 posts ago in an effort to make yourself feel a little better.

Feel free to continue avoiding the fact that by having made such a blanket statement about "state run orphanages" and then claiming how "you couldn't imagine goign (sic) through life assuming I know what's best for people I don't know anything about," you made a total ass of any argument you thought you may bring up.

In reality, you decided to take the fucking cop out route of "LOL YOUNG" showing everyone here (again) why you are the comically ironic exception to the very 'rule' you never fail to try and point out.

This thread started off well, but like most things that Kyoukan and Midnyte touch, it quickly turned into a pile of shit.

Actually, you're the one who invariably does the same thing, granted you mask it with one of three options. You will get all smug and "big picture" on people (which is the default) and avoid backing up any statements you make or replying to the argument at hand; you will bring up how your age somehow changes your opinions from the bigoted, know-nothing douchebaggery that they always are into some kind of a koan whose mysteries the whippersnappers might someday unravel if only they spend 10 years delivering pizza and being intolerant of other cultures, and avoid backing up any statements you make or replying to the argument at hand; or you'll pretend like you were just trolling or say something like "Jeez, take a chill pill! You sure get all riled up easily, LOLLERBACK GIRL" and avoid backing up any statements you make or replying to the argument at hand.

You befoul every thread you post in with an idea (term used loosely) or an opinion, which then gets someone to call you on it or point out that it's the dumbest thing they've ever heard, and rather than clearing up what you've said or pointing to factual evidence or maintaining your position, you fall back on "Big Picture, folks", "I'm older so I'm right" or "It's almost too easy to piss you guys off! ^_^" and then exit stage left.

I can hazard a guess as to why you think other people always sound like they're saying the same thing, and that's because they're responding to your inability to ever learn anything from the last 3000 posts you've made and responses you've gotten. The key to training an animal is consistency; you give us the same behavior every time, you get the same response. Think of it as us trying to house train you. Forget about getting him to stop shitting in the house, smart money is on us being able to more easily teach a puppy to post messages on this forum than us ever getting you to make an intelligent or insightful post.
Age and experience does matter. If it didn't....practice wouldn't make perfect. Someones opinions and perceptions come from their realities and experiences. Using a tired cliche is certainly compelling proof (I'm employing a technique known as sarcasm right now), but you're interpreting it incorrectly. Doing something repeatedly will often make one better at it than they would be without practicing, but there are countless other factors that go into anything that you can practice that determine where two different people will end up. LeBron James is only 20 years old and no amount of practice would ever make you a better basketball player than him. Likewise with 31 year-old Terence Tao and math, a young Mozart and music, or 95% of the adults in this world with common sense and reason. Being alive for 13 more years than a 20 year-old doesn't make you any wiser than him, it just makes you older. It's actually kind of sad that with all that extra time you're still just a mouth-breathing windbag, but I guess I shouldn't look down on you for having an extra chromosome or two.

I look forward to seeing which of your three canned responses you'll open up this time. Maybe you'll do something special and make a combination of a couple of them. Please note that I'm only 29 (and a half, if those extra six months make any difference).

Actually, you're the one who invariably does the same thing...
I think it's both of them. Both are just as predictable, even though they have a few different options available to them.

If that person has had 13 less years of experiences, then their opinions will show it. There will always be exceptions, but that is always the case with any arguement. A well cultured young man of 22 might have seen more and experienced more than a man of 35 who grew up in the same house, in the same town, not having many experiences at all.

Worst insult ever as it barely makes sense. Although if it did I guess you could apply it to you when it comes to defending Midnyte.

No canned response. You have your opinion and I have mine.
