Ok, so I'm an 80s/Greatest Hits CD freak. I just bought David Bowie's greatest hits and it's pretty pimp. I love having all the songs you've ever loved on a single CD. My question to you (and maybe I'll even find out some greatest hit compilations out there that I didn't know existed) is, what are your favorite CD compilations? Even home-made burnt ones count!
The following are a list of mine that I don't think I could ever grow tired of:
The Car's Greatest hits
Heart's Greatest hits
Journey's Greatest hits
Toto's Greatest hits
Madonna (Immaculate Collection & Something to Remember)
Erasure Pop! The hits
New Order (Substance)
Pretty in Pink Soundtrack
Paul McCartney-Tripping the Live Fantastic
Elton John-Greatest Hits
The Beatles-Anthology 1,2,3
Beastie Boys-Anthology
Billy Joel-Greatest Hits
Donny Hatthaway-A Collection
The Carpenters-The Singles
NWA-Greatest Hits
I dusted off Motorhead's "Ace of Spades" (greatest hits in all but name) last week while drunk and in VT. It ruled. I wonder if it still does in the cold light of day heh
There are also some great Ramones anthologies worth checking out. Same with "The Story Of The Clash Vol 1".

Seriously though I went from 4 to 14 during the 80's. The only thing I miss from back then are the cartoons.
I said the same thing about the 70's : )
Lots of good greatest hits from the 80's. My favorite is from The Cars:
1 Just What I Needed
2 Since You're Gone
3 You Might Think
4 Good Times Roll
5 Touch And Go
6 Drive
7 Tonight She Comes
8 My Best Friend's Girl
9 Heartbeat City
10 Let's Go
11 I'm Not The One
12 Magic
13 Shake It Up
I don't get along with many greatest hits albums,
but I can listen to the following over and over:
Gord's Gold
Skeletons in the Closet
Queen Vol I&II (1995) cos it has FLASH AAA AHHHHHH
and
Shaking the Tree
LOL! Reading through all of your lists I came to realize that I pretty much have all the ones you have all listed save a few. I can't believe I forgot The Cure (Mixed Up and Galore) and Fleetwood Mac though. If Morrissey came out with a greatest hits I would get it for sure.
There is one particular old, old album by the Cure that brings up major nostalgia. "Staring at the Sea" I could definitely listen to over and over. It reminds me of spending an entire summer in the pool putting that tape on repeat.
