Dead Rising demo on XB Marketplace.
Loving my Summer Fridays off right about now.
Dead Rising demo is up on the Marketplace weighing in at just over 1gb.
Will post impressions once I get to finish the DL and play it. 12% through

Well, I hope mine finished this morning. I think it was around 70% when I walked out the door.Animalor wrote:Having a few issues downloading this beast of a demo. Apparently some other people are having problem with the downloading freezing partway through and the solution is restarting your 360 and then it picks off where it left off(or close to that point)

This is one thing I really like about the Marketplace. The ability to download a demo for many games. There have been some that I don't think I would have ever really looked twice at, and there have been a couple that I was ready to buy before downloading the demo.

Grr. not sure exactly what's going on but everytime I try to download this, it stalls at 64% and nothing happens. I've tried restarting the 360, resetting my router, deleting other stuff on my HDD and nothing works!
Always 64% for the 3-4 times I've tried. If this had been working properly, I've probably downloaded enough data for this things 2x over by now.

I thought saits row was just "meh" but then again I've never been a fan of Crime action games to begin with.Trias wrote:dl'ing this and saint's row demo now before sleep!
btw- I finally managed to get this down by plugging in my 360 to my cable modem. Hopefully this doesn't mean that my router is going dead as I've downloaded 1GB+ demos before without problems(PGR3).
I grabbed several demos last night:
-Ninety-Nine Nights
The intro and cut scenes were awesome as usual for a Japanese game. The actual gameplay I didnt get. I just kinda of ran around pushing buttons and killed a huge number of bad guys. It's not my kind of game but looks good.
-Dead Rising
Looks like fun so far. The controls seems well done.
-Saints Row
Better than the GTA games. Driving around in cars is definately better handled than GTA. I gave my Asian character Michael Jordan ears. Had fun with the demo but that's about all I want to play it! GTA fans should enjoy this though.
-Table Tennis
Best sports game evah! Fun, although it should have been an X-Box Live game for 10.00 instead of a normal game release.
-Dead or Alive 4
Another beautiful Japanese game. I've gotten my ass kicked every fight so far. Looking forward to DOE Extreme Beach Volleyball 2
Downloaded the Apocalypto trailer. It looks nice visually but after viewing the trailer, I have no clue what it's about. It may be one of those silent type movies. No one spoke in the trailer.
I don't know how PS3 will handle demos, movie previews, etc but the 360 kicks ass. I'm impressed with the amount and size of demos and trailers that Microsoft puts out on Xbox Live. I had an entertaining morning without spending a dime. Lets hope Sony is as generous with game demos.

June (and July) are notoriously bad months for almost everything related to new products...games, hardware, etc.Animalor wrote:The marketplace had a really dry June but they really kicked it up a notch in July/August. I really hope that they can keep this pace up as this is how the marketplace should be.

It's about the Mayans, and I believe their language/dialect was used similar to how he did Passion of the Christ. The main character was designated to be a sacrifice when he decides to attempt to run away.Winnow wrote:Downloaded the Apocalypto trailer. saint's row is pretty decent but the lack of gore is kinda saddening to me.
breaking the demo barrier and grabbing the ak47 was pretty fun too
the dr demo left me feeling pretty eh' but hopefully the survival mode will do it for me.
going to be trading in chromehounds and oblivion tomorrow for DR
i'm still not sure if i'll buy 99 nights, but i'm still really, really excited about castle crashers and gears of war (pre-ordered gears months ago)
castle crashers looks like a fucking absolute blast.. a lot of fun little games look like they'll be making it on to live soon.

EB Games won't sell you brand new titles on launch day unless you pre-order it from it. It is the oddest policy I've ever seen in retail and must cost them a fortune in lost sales.
Again I went to EB yesterday and I was like, 'Do you have dead rising in?' and the fucking retard behind the counter is like 'Well did you pre-order it?'
I go, fuck no I didn't preorder it so the guy tells me they only have copies for pre-orders. And the game is sold out all over the world and that I should have pre-ordered it and now I may never get one, ever. Jesus christ. I walk 20 feet across the hallway in the mall and go to Toys R Us and they have a fucking crate full of them. I know they have dozens of extra copies at EB but it is their policy to withold them for 2-3 days after release.
EB seems to think that pre-orders are so valuable (they kinda are as it's almost a guaranteed sale) that they are willing, even eager to throw walk-in sales out the fucking window in favor of them. I used to manage retail for awhile and the very thought of knowing something is going to be popular and denying it to paying customers is utterly fucking foreign and completely unprofitable. I mean christ, a store that specializes in video games and I can't even buy a title on release day, but I can go to wal-mart and do it? GREAT JOB!

GameCrazy (Hollywood Video) does that same crap. They ordered 18 copies with only 2 non-preorders... totally fucking lame as Fred Meyer across the fucking parkinglot as well as any other place has oodles of the fucking things.
Shitty little obsolete stores are just shooting themselves by pulling this shit--like most adult consumers are going to pre-order a fucking game.
meh!

Re: Dead Rising demo on XB Marketplace.
Hey, I'm finally playing through this. The save system sucks my goddamn nuts. There are also too many dumb cut scenes for no reason and a way too much loading. Having it saved to the HD speeds things up though.
Despite those complaints, I'm having a good time so far. I'm still trying to get the hang of things. I realize that my missions are timed now, but only after I left 3 people to die while I followed the main quest. This may need another play through...
