it's 3am, I've had a few cocktails, and I have stumbled across a shiny tin of these in my pantry. being from newfoundland, I'm almost ashamed to admit I have never tried a sardine before. however I am hungry and slightly light headed and am not in the mood for anything in particular.
what do these things taste like and are they any good
do they have bones in them, i hate food that has bones in them

In general I would say they taste good, there are different kinds though, usually they are in oil and bone free. I am afraid I cannot really compare them to anything though, they are slightly salty and oily, but very good on a piece of bread.

rather like oily, salty paste...yes there are bones but they are softened by the preparation process and are eaten with the rest...

I used to like them when I was a kid, but it's probably been 20 years since I've eaten one.

Just a guess, but for you, they probably smell and taste the same as your crotch.

I only like them in the mustard sace on slatines...hmmm good. I certainly would not eat them if I was drunk though. Not the sort of thing to settle a stomach.

*shrug* ah well....was it a texture thing, or that actual taste? I was going to recomend wrapping sardines in a blacket comprised of several layers of Dulse, topped off with some salt a vinegar potatoe chips, but so much for that idea.
