The Omen

Post by Funkmasterr »

I can't imagine im the only person on the board that went to see this yesterday!?

Overall, I liked it. It wasn't a movie that I walked out of talking about how good it was, but I enjoyed it, and I think that had a lot to do with the fact that I had never bothered to see the original. I think my complaint would really be that it was kind of slow moving, and there wasn't enough action.

I was pretty suprised by the ending, until I remembered that there was more than one Omen movie made.. I wanted that fucker dead though !

Ha ha.. Someone actually went to watch this? I can't imagine why. Especially if one has seen the original. But even if you hadn't.

I may be biased since I think all horror movies in general are a waste of time. But that's just me. Everyones opinion matters!

The ending of the first Omen still creeps me out.

How does the first one end? I haven't seen it and I have heard there are a lot of differences between the original and this one, and im not sure if the ending is one of those differences.

The theatre was packed at the 9:45 show here last night, I don't think there was an empty seat in the theatre ! And yeah of course, half the experience was seeing it on 6-6-06 which is probably a good part of the reason it was so busy.

I rather dislike the trend of remaking a film just because it can be remade. Some films can benefit from the relatively seamless modern effects and actually benefit from a remake visually. This is just a case of studio owns the rights, add contemporary faces and the movie basically advertises itself...voila cheap, easy, exactly the predigested pablum that sells.

I love a good horror film so every ten years or so when a good horror film is made I go see it. This film is definitely on my plan not to see list.

This remake is a, sceen by sceen, virtually word for word carbon copy of the original. I feel the purpose of a remake is to add a new spin on an original, inject something that was missing, or update an old classic for modern times.

The Omen does none of these. There are only two lines in the entire movie that are different from the original script. I believe only 2 of the deaths were altered, and that was only to make them gorier for today's audience. I don't understand why this movie was remade other than to exploit the gimmic of 6/6/06.

When I think Horror remakes, "The Thing" comes to mind as to how to do things right. The Omen remake is more in line with the Psycho remake from a couple years back. It was a shot by shot recreation of the original as well. What's the point? Perhaps to reach out to new horror fans that refuse to watch the classics?

Exactly. The movie sucked. Granted I've never found the Omen series to be scary or shocking in the slightest, but I still found myself sitting in the theater wondering why the fuck they bothered and when it would end. Oooo.. 06/06/06.. bfd.

Not even worth a download.

PS! Any fucking idiot parent that takes their BABY to a 10:45 PM showing of The Omen needs to be shot in the crotch. Twice. It's also fun seeing how quickly people hang up their cell phones in the middle of a movie when they're told that if they don't they're going to find it shoved up their ass.

they should have had it like comedy/little bit of horror because we will switch to a different picture and play loud music.

I found the movie to be pretty funny. but it sucked and i wanted my money back. god the acting by that chick was awful
