who can't tell the difference between hd and standard def? Games on my 360 look exactly the same on my hd tv as they do on my standard def to me, except widescreen. i have everything on the 360 set to 1080i and the cable is set correctly and it's just incredibly underhwhelming compared to what i was expecting. i'm bringing this up again due to the lost planet demo recently released on xbox live. this game looked amazing from the gameplay screenshots/movies but the demo on my setup lacks for some reason.

Lost planet looks amazing and definately in HD on my displays. The difference should be easily observed.

Not sure what you're doing wrong but at least you can get a Wii and not worry about the resolution.

Maybe there's something you need to adjust on the monitor itself. It may be set to 480i/wisdecreen or something like that.

I was having issues due to not completely unplugging the video attachment from the 360 when I switched it to HD from standard. It has been better since I did that.

You should be able to tell the difference. My cable accidently was set to standard tv once, and I knew immediatly that something was fucked up.

You did flip the switch on the output cable of your 360 to HD right?

I have the 27inch version of the slimfit TV. My problem was the switch ON the "box" that connects to the XBox. I had to actually unplug it from the 360, flip the switch, and plug it back in. It made a big difference.

if you're referencing the cable running from the 360 to the tv, as i said in the first post, it's set to hd.

Yeah, you're the only one.

Order the HD box from your cable/satellite provider, the difference there is a much more dramatic. Or clean off your glasses, 4 eyes.

Wow! And in my post I mentioned having to actually UNPLUG it from the Xbox and PLUG IT BACK IN to get it to recognize the change to HD :) I remember having to change something on the Xbox as well which it looks like you might not have found. I will look when I get home. Also, this is just what I had to do, not what you might need to do. You might have to dance a little jig outside your front door only wearing a collander (sp?) and three wedges of cheese.

the xbox is set to display 1080i. i'll try your wacky vooodoo when i get home but i don't see how plugging the cable out and back in would change anything.

the only thing i can think of is a setting somewhere in my actual tv that i haven't found.

it could be a sync issue to the TV and unplugging the 360 and plugging it back in should force it to re-sync.

I had that problem with 1080i on my projector out of the blue one day. Had to actually play with the sensitivity settings to get it to sync 1080i from my AVR.

did you leave the 360 powered on when you pulled the plug out and put it back in?

Like I mentioned, I basically have the same TV you do, and I have the 360 hooked up to the Component 2 input. That's one of the auto-sensing ports on my model. I can go try reversing it to check something real quick...

Ok, did not actually have to power it down to switch. The system does restart though.

Do you have Madden 06? Just wondering since it's one game I know has different splash screens when starting depening on which mode the xbox is in. It sounds like yours is actually set for HD though. You will see an EA/HD screen before the regular EA logo if it's running in HD mode. I think some other games have similar things depending on mode. If you get the HD screen, it could be the port on the TV, or it could be that you really don't notice the difference. I notice it. Maybe the cheese wedges will work for you. :)

I've had the EA HD splash screen before, so maybe HD is just incredibly underwhelming to me.

Sucks to be you!

Either your TV sucks or you're not doing something right. I'm betting you just aren't doing something right. You'll be happy with a Wii.

I think the rest of the population can easily tell the difference between HD and SD.

dude if i side by sided it it would look exactly the same as any other component input device.. i've seen really awesome hd displays in stores like circuit city and i could def. tell a difference.. but those weren't videogames.

and fuck you i'm not getting a damned wii, ps3 all the way.

too bad they haven't given anyone dev kits yet so all my dreams have been shattered about that console release too :(
