Why does US currency have that pyramid/eye thing?
Why does US currency have that pyramid/eye thing?
Does anyone know a non-tinfoil hat reason for such a weird ass thing? I tried to google an plausible answer and got nothing but 5 billion sites ranting about the illuminati allied with the knights templar controlling government.
i dont know either
i hope "The Davinci Code" answers this mystery for me though!!!
probably the same reason that the 10 commandmeents are in courtrooms all over the country....
Not because of religious heritage you ignorant fools, but because in the 1950s, the studio behind the movie "The 10 Commandments" funded a non-profit group to pay for their ERECTION across the country as a fucking movie promotion.
And now fundamentalists wet their fucking beds over the fact that a clear violation of the first amendment (though for the #1 most American reason....to make a buck) is being enforced....
dipshits...

What is the significance of the symbols on the back of the one-dollar bill? I'm particularly interested in the eye and the pyramid.
The eye and the pyramid shown on the reverse side of the one-dollar bill are in the Great Seal of the United States. The Great Seal was first used on the reverse of the one-dollar Federal Reserve note in 1935. The Department of State is the official keeper of the Seal. They believe that the most accurate explanation of a pyramid on the Great Seal is that it symbolizes strength and durability. The unfinished pyramid means that the United States will always grow, improve and build. In addition, the "All-Seeing Eye" located above the pyramid suggests the importance of divine guidance in favor of the American cause. The inscription ANNUIT COEPTIS translates as "He (God) has favored our undertakings," and refers to the many instances of Divine Providence during our Government's formation. In addition, the inscription NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM translates as "A new order of the ages," and signifies a new American era.

I guess the treasury site might have been a bit of a stretch for the first place to check out what is on American bills.
It is believed by some that the Eye on the pyramid was representative of the Eye of Amon of Egyptian lore. The eye was originally located on teh great pyramid at Khufu. So yeah it is the eye of a god but not necesarily the Christian god. It wouldn't be the first time christianity stole another religions ideas for its own use though.

The seal, which Midnyte's post show, showed up on the dollar in the 30s (perhapse we "needed" it then) but has been around America since before the formation of our government and has a much longer history than that.
This is one of the things that helps to disprove the "crispie" idea that all the founding fathers were Christians.
Many of our founding fathers, as most of you know, where deists. They believed that God exists and created everything but in general doesn't get involved in human affairs. Remember these people are in and/or coming our of the Age of Reason. The belief that man, reason and logic could prevail are central to the creation of the United States. The All Seeing Eye at the top is a good a good way to show what man can achieve from God's creation.
So where did the symbol come from? Originally it came from Acient Egypt as it is the All Seeing Eye of Horus. (Horus, god of the Pharaoh's, son of Isis and Osiris). It has been used throughout history as a symbol of the Sun god (Horus was in early lore the son of Ra - the Sun God, but then became the "son of the god Osiris"). It has been used in Masonic, Templar and Rosicrucian Societies throughout the middle ages and even today. As most, yes most if not all, of our founding fathers were members of one or all of these societies it only makes sense that they would include this symbol just as we have included the Oblesk as the Washington Momument...
Here is something MORE interesting though regarding that symbol...
Isis and Horus (aset and Heru) - Egypt
Semiramis (Ishtar) and Nimrod - Babylon
Astarte and Tammuz - Syria
Venus and Aeneas - Rome
I see a trend here but I'm not sure it's at deep as what Hislop puts forth in his book "The Two Babylons." In there he states that the continuation of this is the Catholic Icon's of Mary and Jesus. Now... I'm not going to say that is correct. However it is interesting to note that each of those femle figures is titled "Queen of Heaven" by the various cultures.
Who knows but it's intersting to note that all these secret societies have certian things in common, primarily the use of Acient Egyption symbols. I read a book call "the Hiram Key" (at least I think that was the name) where they eventually got to the point, after covering everything in the Divinci Code (these may have been some of the people suing him as the book is from the mid 90s) that Jesus, while anoited, was actually an Isis priest, John the Baptist was the real prophet and "GASP" the Moverian Kings of Europe, the "Devine Right" came from the fact that Charlegmaine was a decendant of Jesus.
Interestingly enough they came to all of these conclusions in the last 2 chapters but had nothing to back it up as they had done a good job with stuff for most of the book. The most glaring problem of course is that they said Jesus wasn't devine but the Divine Right of Kings came from being a decendant...
So... needless to say there is a bunch of crazy stuff out there if you want too look for it. While I love to read it I pass most of it off as hersay. The bottom line though is that America's founding fathers were into many things and many different societies and had many different ideas of who God is and how He interacts with us. As for me... well you guys know how I believe. None of my research has changed that... questioned, yes, but not changed. I'm still a Follower of Christ.
Cheers!

I also had a warning for exploiting a "dead zone" in the Gnome city..I think I was in my 40's when I got that. It was a good place to PL people without taking damage.Siji wrote:I can confirm that part.. although I do remember Boog exploiting guards in Freeport by standing on top of building and nuking them.Boogahz wrote:Ooh, wow, that soooo hurts...and you are?kyoukan wrote:and you're an ebay buying retard that couldn't even level a druid to 50. your point?

What I find amusing is that many countries on earth think that they are "God's chosen" and God has some sort of master plan for their country. Same with a lot of religions though, I guess.
If I were God, I would make an appearence on Earth just once to let everybody know that I don't really give a crap about their countries or religions. That would be awesome.

It does tie into Freemasons, Egyptain mythology, the Founding Father's of the Declaration of Independence, the Knights Templar etc etc etc... bullshit, wrapped in mystery, encased by enigma.
Conspiracy? To some degree yes. Should you run out and buy a copy of 'The Catcher and the Rye'? That's up for you to decide.
Kyo, you have often made comments regarding America's hidden agenda. 'Weapons of Mass Destruction? Or simply an Oil grab?' Yadda, yadda...
Whether you are right or not, is not up for me to decide. But the seeing eye utop the pyramid was/is a message of some sort, obviously, and it is a message only a selcetive few know the true meaning of. That does lend credence to a secret or hidden agenda...
I, too, would like a definitive answer. But it is highly unlikely that one will ever come.

A little more information:
"Annuit Coeptis" comes from a line from Virgil's Georgics:
"Da facilem cursum, atque audacibus annue coeptis"
Which has been translated as
"Give me an easy course, and favor my daring undertakings,
Smooth my path, condone this enterprise of bold experiment"
The guy who created the seal, Charles Thomson, said that "the pyramid signifies strength and duration: the eye over it and the motto allude to the many signal interpositions of providence in favor of the American cause."
"Novus Ordo Seclorum" also comes from Virgil, in the Eclogue IV:
"Magnus ab integro seclorum nascitur ordo"
Which is translated as something like
"The great series of ages begins anew," or
"A mighty order of ages is born anew."
Or something like that.
