The news I've been listening to today is saying that the officers on the scene smelled alcohol. If that's true, how can they NOT give him a field sobriety test?
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

The story on my local station was that the responding officers said he was stumbling around. Then two sargents came in, talked to their commander, sent the other officers away, and gave him a ride home.

Well, considering how main people Bush got killed so far, its not surprising that the police are hesitant to do anything against powerfull people, its kinda inbred by now that you can get away with everything if you got money or power enough.

Or if the police department doesn't want to end up on the 6 o'clock news.

Because of course before Bush became President powerful people (particularly those with a last name of Kennedy) were never given any preferential treatment.

I think Bush is a lousy president, but the tendency of trying to associate all the problems in the world to him is just ludicrous.

Since when have police been impartial? I'd be willing to bet that that very same cop, and just about every cop on the planet, has also not given the field sobriety test to some random schmuck, hot chick or celebrity who they thought might have been drinking - for whatever reason.

You can get preferential treatment too, all you have to do is make friends with people. Why, only recently I got out of a public urination ticket because a guy who works for my dad and was nearby plays rec hockey with the cop, but that's another story...

What's the point of being in government if you can't use your power to get out of a ticket? I mean besides the boats, artwork and blowjobs you get from lobbyists, oil companies and defense contractors. It's one of the perks that comes with the job.

I dunno, driving drunk into a body of water and having your passenger die is a little more extreme than pissing on some shrubbery.

I didn't think we were talking about Ted Kennedy; I never said they should be able to get away with murder!

The "content" we're discussing was merely the line

I have no idea what the details of this accident were.

Yeah, I know you weren't referring to Ted, but when a Kennedy is driving under the influence of something....well, it's hard for Ted's swim not to come up. It was the first thing I thought about when I saw the headline on CNN, and I found it funny that the article made sure to mention that alcohol was not involved.
