Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children

Post by Waran »

Discuss :) If you don't have this yet, get the hell off the computer and go buy it.

I would recommend viewing the "Revisiting Final Fantasy VII" menu selection option under the play movie option on the first disk. It really helps understand the story if you don't recall much about the game storyline.

Holy jeebus what a great walk down memory lane of the Final Fantasy 7 story. This was by far a much better movie than Spirits Within. But I think that those who didn't play the game would still understand the story and everything.

The fighting action was spectacular, as was all the CGI. Voice actors include Rachel Lee Cook as Tifa and Mena Suvari as Aeris.

Bahamut is summoned towards the end and kicks some major ass, as does Sephiroth when he returns. Cloud's and Sephiroth's fight scene was by far the best CGI fighting I've ever watched.

Original Japanese actors/actresses are better, much better.

It was fun, but still, its a video game movie, and if you aren't into them...well, you get the picture.

I give it a thumbs up!

Is this the commericals I am seeing about the DVD coming out or is out? That looked really cool and I am not a Final Fantasy fan or player. Not that I hate it, I just never played it.

Just came out Tuesday after a long delay in getting it to the States. It was released in Japan first and finally was translated and brought over. I thought it was great, but I like the Final Fantasy games etc.

Fantastic stuff, and well worth the money.

Dub wasn't NEARLY as bad as everyone was afraid it would be, but a few voices were kinda lame. Story makes a lot more sense in English though.

The game revisit reminds me how far 3-D rendering has come, and re-enforces how desperately a remake of that game needs to be made so we can all forget those hideous lego overworld characters.

If you're a fan of shiney things, and stuff going boom, you will love it. If you're nostalgic about old RPGs, you'll love it more.

I enjoyed both versions.. i do agree the jap voices are better, much like i imagined them sounding like truthfully.

However, i do appreciate the fact that the america version tapped into the Anime voices rather than seek out stars for it.. loved hearing Spike and a few of my other favorite voices having key roles.

Good fights and great animation.

Should have had more Summons though!

It was ok. As others have said, the animation is top notch. I don't think anyone would refute that. However, the confusing storyline and constant "flashback to now" segments confuse things and tended to drive me nuts.

Animation 10/10

Movie 5/10 (and that's only because of my FF7 nostalgia, my wife gave it 2/10 because she never really know wtf was going on)

You can probably find the subtitles if you search...

http://subtitles.images.o2.cz/120289/Fi ... ldren.html for starters probably has them for whatever version you happened to snag.
