March 8, 2006 - The Grizzlies and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts have teamed up to create “Baseball’s Best Burger.” The burger, which was debuted at the Grizzlies' December 10th sale, consists of a thick and juicy burger topped with sharp cheddar cheese and two slices of bacon. The burger is then placed in between each side of a Krispy Kreme Original Glazed doughnut.
Grizzlies general manager Tony Funderburg got the idea after reading about the "Luther Burger" served at Mulligan's, a restaurant near Atlanta.
The Grizzlies have added a unique concession item each of the least two seasons. In 2004 “Baseball’s Best Hotdog” hit GMC Stadium. It consists of a 1/5 pound Farmland 8 inch All Beef Black Angus Hot Dog, topped with two strips of freshly cooked bacon, 1 oz. Sautéed Onions, 1 oz. Sautéed Sauerkraut and ½ oz. Cheddar Cheese Sauce, all on a fresh baked bun. In 2005, the “Swiss Brat” was introduced. The “Swiss Brat” is made from a Landshire Bratwurst with a slice of Swiss cheese in the middle of it. 1oz. of Sautéed Sauerkraut is served on top.
“We have had the opportunity to bring in a new concession item for the past two seasons and each of them have been very successful. We look forward to Baseball’s Best Burger and the excitement it will bring to the ballpark,” said Grizzlies General Manager Tony Funderburg.
After taste-testing the creation, the Grizzlies sought the approval of Krispy Kreme for use of the name and doughnuts.
“We are excited to work with the Grizzlies this season on Baseball’s Best Burger,” said Tina Bryan, Vice President of Marketing for Sweet Traditions, the local area developer for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. “Our doughnuts have been used in such things as wedding cakes, bread pudding, fondue, and now a hamburger bun. What a fun and unique way to offer our signature Original Glazed doughnut to Grizzlies fans.”
The Grizzlies stadium is like 5 mins away from my house. I don't know if this "burger" is something I should be proud of or not. My company was a sponsor of the team last year and had party boxes most of the season.
I promise to sample this wonderful creation this season and report back when the season starts. Or my friends will post in place of me if I have a heart attack first...
Sounds putrid to me. And, I agree, the McGriddle(s) is/are one of the most disgusting creations I have ever sampled. However, they seem to have a cult following. I believe they are the same freaks that dip their sausage links in syurp and find it tasty.
Give me a good ole In and Out burger and I am content. Man, I can't wait to get back out to the left coast just to have that wonderful delight back at my finger tips.
Dick's in Seattle makes the best burgers cause you can walk up and be like "Give me a Deluxe Dick". Just be careful if you use that line at the Capitol Hill one
ha ha penis joke
I TOLD YOU ID SHOOT! BUT YOU DIDNT BELIEVE ME! WHY DIDNT YOU BELIEVE ME?
A good pub burger blows away any fast-food/chain burger...
Another thing is that most burger chains (including In n Out) use processed cheese which makes me physically ill. I can only eat cheeseburgers with real cheese.

Our commitment to freshness doesn’t stop there. Our lettuce is hand-leafed. Our American cheese is the real thing. And we use the plumpest, juiciest tomatoes we can find. All of our ingredients are delivered fresh to our stores. In fact, we don’t even own a microwave, heat lamp, or freezer. We even bake our buns using old-fashioned, slow-rising sponge dough. And we make every burger one at a time, cooked fresh to order.

I take it you have never eaten there....
I have... a few years ago.
The burgers were really good, but not the best I've ever had.
American Cheese = Processed cheese.
I'm not quite sure what I am allergic to in processed cheese.. might be the dyes or the preservatives but all I know is that I have gotten acute stomach pain whenever I have eaten it.

American Cheese is indeed processed but it tastes pretty good. I am a swiss fan myself, but it's a challange to find that outside of a bar&grill for a burger topping.
http://www.fiveguys.com Is the big thing around here. It's similar to In and Out but not quite as good. You can get Swiss there though And a few other cheeses as well.

I used to go to five guys when I lived in Alexandria. I loved that they have a chalkboard where they posted where the potatos are from that day. I used to get so much on my burger I'd have to leave the wrapper on to keep it from falling apart.
The best burger I've had is from a 'New' Mexican restaurant on the other side of Denver called Jack n Grill. Green chilis + guacamole + sour cream + bacon = YUM. They also make a seven pound breakfast burrito, no joke, but I haven't worked myself up to that one yet.

That sounds delicious.
