Earlier this week, Vista was delayed until January and now this bomb drops.

I think Vista will be here in January IF we're lucky.

*update* It's fake apparently. Figured as much.

Microsoft is making so much money they are strategically delaying Vista until next year to keep their revenue flow steady.

It's all a ruse. Vista was done 8 months ago.

Office 2007 was originally slated for this year, but it looks like it's slipping to next year as well.

They've got a bunch of releases still delayed that were suppsed to be out in late '04. Many customers renewed support contracts just to get those releases prior to MS changing the license structure, based on MS advertising. "Renew now before we change things and you can't get free upgrades!".

MS support is generally considered totally worthless beyond free upgrades. If you've ever had to call them you know what I mean.

Something like 70% of the businesses that could have upgraded to XP for free never bothered. That was a big enough concern about future revenue to MS that it made it into the financial disclosures a while back.

Why would someone buy a product a second time that you can be fairly certain you'll get no return from? Just like the time before...

this is terrible news for the PC sector. People won't be buying 64-bit architechture machines as much in Q3-4 this year...at least Intel x86 and AMD based machines....

big opportunity for Apple to make inroads into the living room space, and other consumer electronics will benefit as well.

ie: i'm not spending $2k on a new fat PC, i am buying a TV.
