Personally I've never been a fan of DC comics short of Batman and some of the Vertigo titles. Running around with some gimp called Mallardman or Gaseous-stateman doesn't really appeal to me. But I find myself in a similar quandry. Jim Lee. Jim fucking Lee
Oh well, like for the content doesn't really matter, SOE is making it so that's that.

Except loot. Which will then make everyone look the same. Which is a bit dumb.
Pretty much. I guess they're hoping to cash in on fan boys who want the opportunity to tool around a randomly generated warehouse with Batman or Superman or Aquaman or <insert whatever the fuck word here>man. I believe Marvel is making an MMO as well, not sure who they've got making it. Obviously not SOE tho!
It's a shame DC has chosen to team up with SOE and I question how they'll be able to differentiate themselves (intellectual property aside) from any other MMOG especially CoH/CoV.
In this particular case, I guess I just hope that Jim Lee is able to do work up to his regular standard of excellence and isn't forced to sacrifice quality for a release date. I'd also say that if SOE is only using him to do storyboards or something while loading a new zone, they might as well not have wasted their collective breath on a press release.
SOE has a proven track record of fucking their own games in the ass. Gabe's Krispy Kreme analogy is spot on. I know... I know... EQ2 rulez!!!111 If that's the case for you, I'm happy for you, but that's not how I see it. I just look at EQ1 (Luclin), PS (Release), SWG (was this ever good?), and I stay away. EQ2 was interesting to me, but CoV held my interest longer and looks a hell of a lot better.
I feel that I make this criticism from a pretty unbiased place. I'm sure Miir will say that I'm biased, but the reality is, I've tried just about every MMOG that's come to market since UO (except for Asheron's Call), and unless a developer is willing to do something new and different, I doubt there will be an MMOG that will hold my interest again for longer than 2-3 months.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

I'm sure Mr Lee will be more like a 'technical consultant' or something rather than heavily involved in the creation and development. They simply add his name to garner more interest from players. Don't fall for it.

Why would you want to be any of those men when you could be...

"Should I be scared because SOE hates gamers?"
That says it all.
Oh, I know. I have/had no interest in this, and have no intention of ever even signing up for a beta test for it. I just see Jim Lee and it makes my heart cry that he's a part of it. There's no falling for anything involved.
I have to say this for SOE right now.....Planetside with its current population and strategies is better than it was once they made the changes at release. *IF* you had a solid 15-25 people you could wreak havoc with coordinated efforts against people's bases from behind. You won't necessarily be able to cap bases in that manner on hot continents, but you can change the entire flow of what is going on over the entire continent by dropping a tech plant's generator and then keeping it down.
The new changes they have coming all sound like they are great ideas and it makes me think they removed all actual SOE thinking from the PS team. The free for a year accounts are coming this month btw.
there's just some bad planning going on all around in SOE. at least they pulled their heads out of their asses long enough to realize that a PS3 only MMO isn't going to fly. i don't know why they'd even try that... do people actually play eqoa?
Ok, I love this little "war" going on between Gabe and Smedley.
With that said I have to admit that those sons of bitches have a sense of humor. Smedley sent me an email this morning that just said he’d sent me a package. I assumed it was a bomb but just a few minutes ago a man showed up and proclaimed that he “had our donuts”. That’s not something I expected to hear today. We followed him out to his truck where he showed us our 1,200 freshly baked Krispy Kreme donuts.
