Uber guilds holding AQ opening for ransom

Post by Sargeras »

On 2 servers that I've seen so far.

#1: Detheroc

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/threa ... #post67319
It's obvious that the responibility of opening these gates lies soley on us, Imperial Order. We are not ignorant to the notion that without our champion Nimic ringing the gong, it will take a lot longer than everyone had intended for the gate to open.

How much longer remains to be seen, maybe as long as TKT or Phoenix takes to grind carapaces? I don't know their plans, so it may be even longer than that.

So why not now? This is a common and valid question. The gates CAN be opened right now, but we're not going to.

Why not? The most natural and unhelpful answer is that we choose not to. It won't happen today, it won't happen tomorrow, after maitenence, and it probably won't happen the day after that.

So when? We can't answer that, for the answer lies within all of you. We do want to see this new content, but we also have many other plans in mind. Like any guild, we like being notorious, remembered.

Nobody remembers the fair and quietly intelligent people we meet in their daily lives, but everyone remembers those who ruin their day.

We'll have plenty of time to conquer this new content, but for now we see an endless novelty in holding it hostage. And this is what we will continue to do: Hold it hostage.

So now the gates truly lie in your hands. In order to open the gate, we are demanding 5,000 gold. Please send it to Aqransom, one of our banks, and we will tally up the money. Once we gain this money, we will open the gates.

If you are horde, use the nuetral bank to transfer your money. We don't want to have to pay the bank cut.

We would apologize for this great injustice on the server, but I personally feel it would fall on deaf ears.

So get farming. The next step in this new content is purely up to you.

Dear Gorgonashians Smile

I am really happy to inform you, that we (with some help of blizzard) gathered all the materials and now OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of people are waiting when the gong will be hit and we will be able to get in to the AQ Smile.
I get a lot of tells in games requesting me to reveal the secret of the moment of the gate opening, previously I was saying that, everything in the hands of allmight go.. Bakka! But lately I had a discussion with Bakka and he said, we are not going to open the gates until all major guild will do their best and donate some funds to the TKO guild bank. NO surprise a lot of people will be unhappy with such a news, but you should understand that first of all, our guild invested a lot of efforts in making the scepeter, second of all, the guild has such a wonderful chance to get donations from the whole server and it is a sin not to use it, and the last of all but not least of importance, only tko has a scepeter and we are in position to speculate.

To sum up, the major guild can send donations to bakka directly, the flat rate for alliance is 500g per guild (which is not a lot at all), people who would like to be personally informed about the event can send me an ingame mails with 10g each, and i ll make a mailist and I will personally keep you updated on when where and what is the dress code for the even is.
The requirement for opening is the participation of 10 guilds.

Thank you for your attention,
Best regards
Doink the alliance mage.

People who already donated funds in to the AQ opening (will be listed below):

Ianus (alliance/UD/warrior 60) 5g (participation discount)
Xelandren (alliance/UD/warlock) 10g
Malius (alliance/Butang/priest) 10g
Thxiiet (alliance/guildless/rogue) 10g
Arraphorr (alliance/DR/druid) 10g
Loreleen (alliance/frency/priest) 10g
Calea (alliance/guildless/mage) 10g
to be continued...
I can't even believe this shit is happening, and it makes me glad Bloodhoof's resident uber guild was really cool about sharing the opening with everyone.

Those who are not important in the real world, try their best to be important somewhere else!

The Detheroc fellas sure thought they were the shit on that server!

OMGZ! I sure am cool in the world of WoW! :)

So much frustration!

Yes, everyone will surely respect those Detheroc fellas as Bigshots!

He prolly can't even bench 140 lbs, so it's clearly thats why he did such a thing in WoW (due to a poor benchpress), where he can focus all his frustrations!

:?:

I don't know if this is happening on Whisperwind, but its not open yet, and the resources part is done.

Personally I would tell them to fuck off.. I can do without the zone being open, and I can assure you that if this went on for some time blizzard would probably step in.

Isn't much Blizzard can do about it. Anyone has the ability to create the sceptre, it isn't limited to one person per server.

Fairly original idea, even if it is a pathetic attempt for attention.

Seriously, if you don't have time to farm the crap yourself, you don't have time to do AQ anyway so what's the problem?

What are these guilds doing? Locking arms and barracading Deadmines so no one can have any linen cloth? Welcome to monthly-charged MMOs. Learn to farm and like it.

These guilds are not keeping the server from farming... the farming is more or less complete on these servers. These guilds were the only ones to complete the scepter quest required to open the gates and are refusing to ring the gong unless their demands are met.

I certainly don't condone what they're doing - these guilds are fucking scum if it's real - but if your guild cannot complete the scepter quest, you don't really have business in AQ either. We're currently on the twin emperors and it's safe to say Sartura and Huhuran put everything in BWL to shame by a long-shot.

I guess they're still holding AQ20 for ransom though.

Except ban these fucks and run the "AQOpen = true" script on that server.

Ah yes, the scepter... but even so, still, since they can do the sceptre quest, wouldn't they primarily be screwing themselves? Won't the average person not give a toss?

It's fine if they want do wait to open the gates for their own reasons. When they come out and practically acknowledge that they are doing it to extort money from other players, they have gone too far.

I think this is hilarious. While not many folks enjoyed the cockblocking days of EQ, it did make for great entertainment on this board. WoW is such a nuetered experience that I find it refreshing to see some assholery happening for a change.

I can agree its amusing in a way but what a change in perspective from other servers. On Lightbringer, the top guilds on the Horde and Alliance sides cooperated to follow FoH's lead by raffling off items, coin and some trips to kill Ony and MC for those who farmed for the war effort. They wanted the gates open ASAP so they could explore the new content, so they offered the general population additional incentives to help them.

The guilds that are supposedly holding AQ for ransom seem to defy the definition of "uber guild" by denying themself the new challenges... but I guess they still might be the first to beat shit on their server...

It would be interesting to see if people on those servers being "held hostage" pushed harder to complete the sceptre portion of the quests because of this. Personally I would like to do these, but my WoW raid times are so screwy that I wouldn't expect to finish even if my guild and our alliance could do the encounters. We were talking about this in-game last night, and the 10 hour window to complete your sceptre quest even after the gong is rung is nice.

I'd laugh if this in any way actually affected the other people on those servers.

A few reasons why I find this funny: A) TKO on Gorgonnash did do a incentive drive for people on the server offering MC-quality items, and the like....and B) I play on Gorgonnash (Horde), but could care less as it won't affect me any time soon.

Perfect illustration of a game design concept that probably looked good on paper, but is fucked up in practice. Similar to Sleepers Tomb... OMG DON'T TELL SIJI ABOUT THIS!!!!11!!!
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.
