As long as we're talking about older movies, I think Requiem For A Dream deserves a nod for being a very high impact film. It mixes visuals, sound, and lighting to achieve a mind numbing experiance. If you enjoyed Basketball Diaries and Trainspotting then you owe it to yourself to see this film. It pulls no punches, has excellent acting, and it's just visually stunning. The score is haunting and the overall "feel" will stick to you, for better or for worse, well after the end credits have rolled.
Darren Aronofsky is a natural. His first 2 films, Pi and Requiem, took bold steps and have seeded a legacy that needs to be built upon. His next film defiinately looks full of promise to me, but I admit he's turned me into a lifetime fanboi...

Pi was hilarious, when Jason Biggs got caught whacking off I couldn't stop laughing. And that Shannon Elizabeth is quite an actress, I think she's going places!
[hide=.]Sorry, I'm just being an asshole. I have seen Pi and I enjoyed it. I wasn't aware that the same guy did Requiem for a Dream.[/hide]

I've seen it a dozen times and it still drains me to watch this film.
Requiem for a Dream pretty much tops my list of favorite movies of all time.
Check out the website, it's completely fucked up.

Make sure to double your daily dose of Prosac/Xanax before watching Requiem. It makes Trainspotting look like the Wizard of Oz.
