You can't say "bomb" on an airplane

You threaten people on a plane with an imaginary bomb, run from US Marshalls, and then reach into a piece of luggage?
You deserve to die for being ignorant beyond all belief.

Rad Berky of Local 10 News wrote:According to Local 10's Rad Berky, the passenger got into an argument with another person or persons on board and threatened them with a bomb.
As passengers were disembarking at gate D-42, a federal air marshal confronted him, but he ran off the plane, according to federal authorities.
The air marshal pursued the passenger and shot him when the man apparently reached into his carry-on luggage, authorities said.
The man was a 44-year-old U.S. citizen, the Department of Homeland Security has confirmed.

Yeah whenever I'm on a flight and you get the obligatory who/what/when/where questions from your neighboring passengers and the "what do you do" question comes up I just say I'm a cook in the military.
Saying..."build bombs" no matter what way you put it in a sentence is just asking for trouble.

Apparently he was mentally ill... which I guess you'd have to be to take a bomb on a plane too.

And apparently Jack Bauer was involved!According to a witness, the man frantically ran down the aisle of the Boeing 757, flailing his arms, while his wife tried to explain that he was mentally ill and had not taken his medication.
No bomb was found, said James Bauer, agent in charge of the Federal Air Marshals field office in Miami.

That does make it quite tragic.Zaelath wrote:Apparently he was mentally ill... which I guess you'd have to be to take a bomb on a plane too.According to a witness, the man frantically ran down the aisle of the Boeing 757, flailing his arms, while his wife tried to explain that he was mentally ill and had not taken his medication.
Based on the information given I dont think anyone here could point at wrongdoing on the Marshall, given the possibility of a bomb he was probably as scared as the wife watching all of this.

Suprised there hasn't been a meet the parents reference yet.
That being said, I think the marshall was totally in line with what he did. If he hadn't shot the guy and it was a bomb, who knows how many people would have been injured/killed, not to mention then people would be pointing the finger at him saying he didn't do his job.

Yeah, I'm not going to second guess the Air Marshal based on what's been reported; I'm not sure that the actions described in the second story aren't more like someone "pitching a fit" than your classic terrorist... but it would have been a tough call.
Just to be clear: I don't think this is anything like the brazilian shot in England.

No sympathy for that guy from me.
If you stupid enough to say you got a bomb, run from air marhalls, and keep your hand in your bag, youre asking for it.
Would be something different if some drunk 15 year old tried to say he got a bomb, but running and acting like you had one = too risky to take the chance.
And being mentally ill dont help him imo. Hell, even before all this terror started, if a mentally ill person would walk into a police station and shout "i got a gun", try to run towards potential hostages, and put a hand in his jacket, i would expect him to be blown away too.

You can't run red lights either.....you can't steal.....you can't murder...all of which are as earth shattering new news as what you just posted.
STFU and stop your complaining already. Holy shit. Bunch of whiney fucking crybabies on this board.
somebody who is that mentally ill - if that is indeed the truth here - shouldnt be travelling in the 'general population' unmedicated anyway. if they are liable to run around and act like they are about to murder hundreds of people, then perhaps they should be sedated or travel Hannibal Lecter style.

My bad on that one Mid, I had a cheap digi cam at the time due to the harsh condition and I didnt want to ruin my good one. I dropped it in the sand and that was the end of that camera. Fine desert sand does quite a number on buttons and stuff of a small cheep cam.

Well, whoever he's calling out, it would be nice if someone actually whined about this guy getting shot before he calls them out on it.
What, we didn't have a complete knee-jerk reaction to something because we engage our brains before our value systems and you just thought there would be whining you should respond to?
Crawl back in your pity pit and play with your friend, Mr Winky.

So what I think is interesting, and I was thinking about this yesterday, the Air Marshal's shot him after he was already off the plane, and from reports, moving away from the plane. The officials have stated that the Marshal shot to protect the people on the plane, there (as far as I know) has never been any mention of other bystanders on the jetway where the shooting occurred. So it sounds to me like the threat was decreasing when the shots were fired.
When I read the article today it just makes me more leary because according to law enforcement officials the man was screaming about blowing up the plane, but apparently no one else heard it. Which means that either he wasn't screaming it, or he was far enough away no one else could hear him. If he was that far away I have to wonder how much threat there was to the passengers. I'm not saying the Air Marshal was wrong, but I think there are some questions, and an investigation would probably be a good idea.

So it would have been cool if they'd let him get inside the airport with a bomb? Fuck that shit. Fool should have shelled out for some Xanax.Kargyle wrote:So what I think is interesting, and I was thinking about this yesterday, the Air Marshal's shot him after he was already off the plane, and from reports, moving away from the plane. Allow me to step in and explain this liberal guilt blaming phenomenon. You see, if that whacko had a bomb and was able to detonate it after running into the airport, the liberals would be saying, "OMG, the Air Marshal was right there. Why do we have Air Marshals if they're not going to actually do anything? XX amount of people died today because we have a system in place that doesn't help!"
Whatever happens during a crisis situation, you can be sure the liberals will complain about it no matter how it is handled.

Well considering the bomb story is even true is at this point we can hardly just run around whining about xanax.

I never blamed the Air Marshal. All I said was that an investigation sounds like a good idea. Hell, I would be inclined to say that any time a person is shot there should be some type of investigation. Personally I feel bad for the Air Marshal. Whether he did the right thing or the wrong thing, he still has to live with the fact that he shot and killed another person, one whom turned out to be sick, but not a real threat. That's a hard thing to face every day, even if you have the conviction that you did the right thing.
