Hapkido

Post by Canelek »

Seeing this girl that has been doing Hapkido for a couple years and she seems to enjoy it. She has asked if I would be interested in checking it out...I said, sure, you bet. My research has been minor to date, but it seems pretty cool, yet difficult to grasp at first.

Just looking for some first-hand insight... :)

Also, my boss is a Ju Jitsu guy and trainswith Randy Katur(sp). I want to kick my boss's ass. :) Don;t get me wrong, My boss is a cool cat--I just want to lay the hurt on one of those mat-rollers.

All I can tell you is that "i know ju jitsu!" is a LOT more intimidating than "I know hapkido!"

I have an acquiantance who has been doing it for years, as far as i understand it is sort of a korean version of Aikido, which utilizes high kicks and ither offensive maneuvers.

Couture! :)

Sure why not, try it and see if ya like it/think it's fun.

So, what's your goal with MA, laying the hurt on one of the mat-rollers? :D

Small joint manipulation isnt allowed though if ya wanna roll with the JJ-guys.
Thanks to Thess

JK regarding getting into it with a ju jitsu person--the grapplers are too damn good once on the mat. My interest lies in the seemingly well-rounded style, with the utilization of some ground technique as well as striking/kicking.... plus, I hear you get to learn a bit about swordplay in the advanced black belt stages. :)

Im sorry, but a jiu jitsu fighter has so many advantages over a hapkido one, unless you are considerably larger then your boss assuming he is a serious trainer I doubt you will do much harm(not trying to be biased as I have trained in bjj off and on for 2 years, but those are just facts)
