PIRATES assault cruiseliner!

Post by cadalano »

Cruiseliner off the coast of Somalia is attacked by a boatload of would-be thieves brandishing rifles and RPG launchers. Liner escapes by speeding up and blasting them with a really loud speaker.

When you can be outrun by a cruise ship it's time to change professions or get a better boat.

"Captain!"

"There's a handful of pencil thin Somalians in rusty boats with WW2 technology weapons tailing us but fading fast!"

2 bullet holes and one partially exploded ordnance.

My guess is this cruise route will become the most popular in the next year as people scramble to grab reservations for the pirate experience.

Stupid amateur pirates. If they were real pirates they'd have boarded the cruise ship with JETPACKS.

Yes but next year the passengers will be allowed to bring weapons and help "defend" the ship. Look for special discounts in your NRA newsletter :)

Fuck the rocket launcher. Give me a .50 cal. sniper rifle and a nice spot on the pool deck!

The .50 cal with a depleted uranium slug can penetrate tank armor. I'm not just shooting the pirates, I'm shooting their boat!

I'm not sure if you need to have a forums account to view the ask/tell subforum at somethingawful.com, but there is a super interesting thread called ask me about being a seaman and he gives some interesting info about pirates and their locations and life/pay etc working on a boat.

Read an interview with the captain, he was a quick thinker for sure. And it is "slightly" more than a loud speaker heh.. same kind of devices are used to protect facilities from break-ins and terrorists etc. Smart to also not run the alarm but rather use the PA system to inform and warn them to stay inside.

Interestingly enough, this is the second time this captain is a hero. Back in the day (1980) when the Alexander Kielland oil platform capsized he was among the people who dived into the water to rescue others.
