World of Warcraft - The Burning Crusade

Post by Dregor Thule »

Figured I'd start a new thread instead of keeping that moronic thread with the list of stupid "leaked features" going. The expansions website is up, tho it hasn't been officially announced yet, so who knows if it'll stay up for now. In case it does tho, here it is:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/burningcrusade/

And here's the scans from the CGW article:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/r ... ndpage.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/r ... rdpage.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/r ... thpage.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/r ... thpage.jpg

Gotta say, this shit looks nice. The little trailer got me even more wet for it. From the CGW article it seems like all of Outland will be PvP enabled, regardless of server type, but we'll wait and see if that's actually true. Have a hard time believing it -- the clamor of people crying over it would be louder than the nerf shamen chants.

The trailer they shouled is barely out of the concept art stage and looks like they just started modeling the new areas.

This thing is most likely 12-18 months away at the very least.

Most likely Vivendi will step in in Sept 2006, pressure them to get it out the door again early/late November and most of the features will be cut.

I heard May 2006.

Personally, I consider it rather pathetic how late this is coming out. This game released in November of 2004. It's almost November 2005 and they're JUST NOW officially announcing the expansion.

Blizzard has been shitty at getting patches out, shitty at adding new content (or at least doing it VERY slowly), and shitty at maintaining customers after they hit 60.

4 million people play this game. 4 million. You would think they would have this expansion out months ago for the amount of cash they're taking in.

By the time the expansion comes out Vanguard will be in full swing and will hurt sales of the expansion. I am not up on the lore of the game nor have I played the rts games other than the very first one. So I don't know what is supposed to be coming up with new races and such but I really think different textured elves is kind of gay.

Just more proof that Blizzard has a horrible time schedule, unless of course the expansion comes out much earlier than any of us expect.

They did that on release day, just took a couple raids to realize it.

i never played the warcraft games. did those games have expansions? if so, how long after the original game, were they released?

i understand it's a different kind of game but it's the same company.

isn't Blizzard notorius for taking forever to release new games? this should come as no suprise to anyone.

only other game in this genre i've played was EQ; up to the DoN expansion. they came out with new shit about twice a year. looking back, a lot of it was garbage. it was rushed and it didn't all flow with the previous content.

i'll take quality over quantity any day of the week.

Probably one of Naga, Goblin, Pandaren. Odd cause i read an article some time ago about the goblin home of Undermine and the Naga captial city coming with the next patches.

If anyone is interested, Fileplanet has the video from the official expansion website, but much larger. If anyone would like to see it without squinting their eyes away.

If it's out by July of next year, I'll be surprised. They better keep releasing content like the past 2 months as oppossed to the initial 9.

One thing I read in that link that I did not like = socketed items.

I always hated socketed items in previous warcraft games and tossed them away no matter how good they were. Isnt that what enchanting is for? why not just make some shitty weapons capable of getting 2 or 3 enchants on them instead.

Sounds like augments to me. Perhaps they can do it LDoN style and add some extra depth to single grouping.
