How do you fuck up a series about the founding of the Federation? Seriously, instead of a series about them exploring new worlds, the fuck ups that necessitated the Prime Directive (like was hinted in season 1), the beginnings of the deep seated animosity that the Klingons and Romulans have to humanity, we got a show about a war between time travellers from the future and gay alien races that nobody ever heard of. If they end up killing the only new life forms they meet, how was the Federation even formed in the first fucking place?
I swear to God that if I ever met Brannon and Braga, I'd IRLPK those fucking hacks. Where has the creativity gone? It seems like they are dead set against NEW show themes, and only want to recycle shit that was already recycled from the orininals by TNG, DS9, or Voyager. Believe it or not, I think that there are more way to interact with alien life than the old Jim T. Kirk "Fuck 'em or kill 'em" that we first got in the 60's.
Sorry to nerd this forum up so heavily, but this was bothering me after I watched some Tivo'd episodes last night

Yeah, i watched a couple episodes when it first started up...but couldn't take it because it was so damn horrible...in every way possible Depressing. I hated Voyager too though.
I never really watched Enterprise because the storyline looked like it sucked to me.
I really liked DS9 and TNG when I used to watch Star Trek, hated Voyager though. If they had gone with more background like Masteen was saying Enterprise could have been really interesting since the majority of that is never explained in the other series.
The Star Trek franchise hit its pinnacle with The Next Generation IMO. DS9 started out alright, but got to be too much like a soap opera. Voyager was just annoying, and well .... Enterprise has already been covered in this thread.

The "Soap Opera" element is what made DS9 so good. An evolving story line from the very first episode (obviously moreso in the last few seasons). The way the finale ended with Odo and the other changling was piss poor, though.
DS9 was the best of the series IMO. A little darker (tho let's face it, it's still Star Trek, so still shiny happy), a little more serious, and some of the more memorable characters and supporting cast. Plus, the evolving storyline worked. Episodic, one-off stories are good now and then, but it's nice to have a continuous narrative in a show.
I sampled Enterprise and could not get into it. I do remember a scene with the Vulcan girl rubbing down another lady in a decontamination chamber. It was pretty hot, but it ended and I changed the channel.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

I didn't get into watching DS9 until recently. When it originally aired, I was more into Babylon 5 (which is superior, imo ). DS9 is pretty good too, though.
I lost interest in Enterprise midway through the first season, i found going back in time was pretty boring, it would have been better if they continued on with the current story line, rebuilding after the war and finding out more about the Breen.
I liked all the Star Trek shows and most of the movies. Granted certain episodes were really cool while others I found wanting in a big way. I am also a big fan of BabV. Lately (last few years) I have been into Star Gate and when since its inception, Star Gate: Atlantis. What I am really impressed with though is the new Battlestar Galactica. Very cool.

Sci Fi series!
The new Battlestar Galactica. One of the best in a very long time.
Yeah. Battlestar Galactica is good. I liked Stargate: SG1 too. I didn't enjoy this last season as much, though. I just didn't find it as fun without Jack (Richard Dean Anderson). So, maybe just stick with seasons 1-8.
Before Roddenberry died, he had approved the production of DS9 and the overall concept of the series. Voyager was in the works, but it was all still on paper.
In an interview with Berman, he says on his desk is a bust of Roddenberry with his eyes and ears covered. He said he had it because a lot of things about the series around the office was something Gene would never have allowed when he was alive. Berman played it off as a joke, but inevitably he was truly screwing with Roddenberry's dream. I'm glad they allowed Majel to stay on and have a lot of creative control after her husband's death.
Dregor was right, DS9 was awesome, it was right up there with TNG. Voyager had great potential, and it did good but could have been better. Enterprise just totally took a dump when they decided to stick that damn storyline with the Zendi(sp?) and time-travelers.

Yeah, I'm a huge Stargate fan. I wasn't sure at first if the Atlantis series was going to be as good since it was only an offshoot from SG1, but I love it.

Yeah. I liked Atlantis even more than SG1 this season.

I agree to a point, and that would probably have to do with the fact that the Atlantis season already let out some big guns to fight the evil. Whereas in SG1, they're still building up the character development of all the new factors involved, and even left the bad guys have an advantage at the season cliff hanger.

Yeah, my Fridays last year were locked up with the SG-1 -> Atlantis -> Battlestar SUPER COMBO.

I don't really think it's fair to compare SG-1 to Atlantis this season. Considering that Atlantis has the same cast and is continuing off the previous season where SG-1 is changing various cast members after having 8 seasons of the same people it's going to take some time to get used to the new group.
I've personally really enjoyed the new season a lot because the Ancients was always one area of the story I really hoped they would eventually give more time to. Although I have to say the new Battlestar is vying for my top spot, but all these cliffhangers are driving me crazy.
