Hehe, looked up some reviews on this and the results were rather funny:

"It's been a while"...since anybody cared about what was troubling the burly girly-men of Staind
Chapter V is merely a carbon copy of, uh, chapters I-IV, simply rehashing the same punishing riffs and self-pitying lyrics
How can this dork-metal silliness still be going on in 2005?
hoping that people still have time to listen to self-pitying grown men moan about their dysfunctional childhoods.
bland corporate sludge rock
Pearl Jam were doing this kind of stuff over a decade ago, but at least they did it with a modicum of style and talent.

Found another good one:
most of these songs... are indistinguishable from the work of a hundred other bands with misspelled names, hotshot producers, plentiful tattoos, and optional silly facial hair

A lot of bitter writers out there I guess. It's really some excellent music.

I love how whenever someone (or in this case, the general populace) disagrees with you, they're "bitter". What exactly are these writers bitter about?

Did you read the comments Syl? Do they not sound bitter? I have no problem with people who disagree with me or the hundreds of thousands of others who have bought this album and think its great. I just call a spade a spade when I read those comments. They appear to be bitter slanted pre-disposed comments that have been thrown around about staind since they came out. The same ole regurgitated comments over and over. I found myself believing many of those comments over the past few years and never purchased a Staind album. So all I ever heard was the radio songs. On a hunch I decided to purchase this CD, and boy am I glad I did.

You obviously disagree. Super keen neato for you. I could give a fuck less.

Because if you did you'd realize most of the reviews are correct. You put all Stained songs into one bin and you'd be hard pressed to tell what album they came from.

Go with what sells I guess. It must be ok to regurgitate the music but not the comments about the music...

People, music critics are complete morons and should never be used to prove a point, they are the shit on the shoes of the already steaming music industry.

Which leaves the shoes staind....

I agree Nick. I would even say that about all critics. Anyone who professionally or habitually critiques others work, seems to end up very jaded and bound by some greater goal or selfish philosophical purpose.

I prefer not to read others opinions on something. I'd rather to find out myself if it is something I like or not.
