I was debating buying this when it was released, but opted not to due to the 30$ price tag. That's a lot for 6 episodes. Well, it just so happens I found a "$5 off any TV series DVD" coupon in the local paper. I head over to Mejiers to see what kinda deals I could get, when I found a mis-marked Tales From the Crypt Season 1 DVD for $9.99 (instead of $29.99) Now, with my coupon, that brought the total to a whopping $4.99. I hope Jesus forgives me for taking advantage of Meijer's error!
On to the review...
Just in time for Holloween

What a fun show. It never takes itself too seriously and it has a plethora of big names sprinkled throughout the episodes. The picture quality is beautiful. It's funny seeing something so old look so good on DVD. There is swearing, nudity, and some truely grisly violence, but the stories are all engrossing and fun none-the-less. There's a decent amount of social commentary involed and each episode is really quite good.
Unfortunately, each episode's intro was axed (pun intended). You get one intro through the haunted house at the start of the DVD, and the rest cuts right to the Cryt Keeper intros. I just thought that was odd since it's the only TV series on DVD that I own where each individual episode's intro were taken out.
There are 6 episodes total in the first season. Season 2 comes out Oct 25th, and it will contain 7 episodes. I'll gladely purchase that at full price if I can't find myself another deal
Overall, I'm very happy with my five dollar purchase.
