I have been a long time fanatic for Rufus and a likewise very happily entertained fan of Mr Folds. My friend and I flew to NYC to see them in Central Park last year and they toured again this year so we caught them here in Vegas.
Ben Lee opened and I hadn't heard any of his music before but he presented it in an engaging way and it was pretty good. He pointed out that they had a song on the Deuce Bigalow: European Gigalo soundtrack and then we watched the movie the next night by chance and sure enough it was them hehe.
Then Ben Folds took the stage, his cover of Dr Dre's Bitches Ain't Shit was total hilarity especially when all the Mormon fans in the audience got offended. Rufus sang his cover of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah and a bunch of his older songs and also played a couple of new ones, a lot had a country-ish thing going but it was not typical country. He said he was trying to save country from itself. All in all I had a lot of fun. I also saw Rufus in the hallway as we were coming into the casino from the parking garage and he was headed to Starbucks, we chatted a bit and I got a picture on my roommates camphone. He is a very kind and gracious man.
