I will see it just because Jessica Alba is in it.

Jessica Alba was the worst part of the movie IMO.

Personally, I have nothing against her... however, dumb hot chicks playing geniuses doesn't fly with me. It's like when Denise Richards played a brilliant scientist in James Bond... ohhh puhleeeze!

(Doesn't matter if she truly is smart IRL, I don't know, but her image doesn't fit with that of a scientist.

[hide=Comment on Thing]Oh, and wtf was with Thing's wife - what a cunt. That story line made me sad. I wish she had died for being such a bitch.[/hide]

Was there any actual dialogue or was it just one bad pun after another like in all the trailers? Good to see my instinct was right on the movie tho (like there was any doubt about this one lolololol)

Dled it and watched it today. Have to agree with the general sentiment of the thread; this movie just plain ol' sucked my hairy balls. One liners galore, bad acting, terrible script, the list goes on and on. Disgrace to the FF comic book.

I'm going to go against the posts so far. I enjoyed it. I thought it was cute. My 5 year old loved it, maybe that's why I was able to enjoy it more. Also I have no idea how the comics or anything went never read them. So no preconcived notions or anything just sat there and had fun with him.

I liked it so fuck you all!

Actually you have to remember that this is an origin movie so the second movie will be so much better. I did find myself worrying that they were ending things too fast.

I was seriously afraid that they were going to kill Dr. Doom the same way they killed the Joker in the first Batman movie. You can't kill off the bad guys like that.
Now what I would like to see is a X-Men/Spiderman/FF gathering to fight off someone like Galactus or something.

Secret Wars, perhaps? Then they could introduce the Spidey suit that eventually becomes Venom.

Hey Bubba, when you say origin movie, you mean a movie explaining the backgrounds of the characters right? So like Spiderman and Batman begins (masterpieces imo) are origin movies?

FF being a origin movie does not excuse it for sucking.

What's with that anyway, why do Origin movies to introduce characters as well known as these? Same w/ X-men...

I'm all for character development, but these movies are like the setup scenes in a pr0n movie; best skipped or used purely as comic relief.

I think the reason they have to introduce the characters is for a few reasons. Mainly because there is a whole generation of people who have never read these comics or know the characters but don't know how they got that way.

Also, they need to bring the movie up to date with present society to make it easier for people to relate to the world around them. That is why they can take creative license and change some of the origins of the characters to suit the world of today.

I think the only problem I had with the Fantastic Four was that the movie was too short and the battle with Dr. Doom too abrupt. I don't understand what everyone else had problems with. The story was pretty solid, the special effects were cool, and the chick was hotter than hot.

Rented the DVD today and just got to watch it finally.

The only scenes that really bugged me were the extreme sports to music scenes that gave it a bit too much of a "we're pandering to teens right now" flavor. Otherwise, the cast did a good enough job(or maybe it was the effects) to allow me to suspend disbelief and really enjoy the flick for what it was, a superhero movie.

I liked it quite a bit.

I liked it, but now we have 3 different origins for the FF and Doctor Doom (original comic book series origin, "new Marvel Universe" origin, movie origin)?

Those outfits are Fantastic!
Another horrible line.

All in all, I gave it 6.5 out of 10. It wasn't as bad as Daredevil, but it could easily be lumped in the Elektra/Hulk/Punisher lineup of "shoulda been better".

I thought it was fun although it dragged in spots. The dialogue was bad at times but I liked the special effects. In the comics, the girl is portrayed as a genius but they didn't portray her that way in the movie really. Alba didn't come across as the bookish comic version so it worked for me.

I was worried that Doom would come across as too power rangerish like SPiderman was but it played out well.

Overall I thought it was an above average movie. Maybe 7 out of 10
