Telemarketers...rant
Is it more or is anyone else getting sick and tired of telemarketers? I personally worked as one for MCI when I was 16. Iirc some of the rules were that we couldn't hang up on people, we couldn't go off on them, and we had to take them off the list if they asked to be taken off. When we took it off though we let them know it would take like 5 business days which it prolly didn't even take that long. I've gotten the same call multiple times this week though from wells fargo. I keep telling them to take my name off of the list and to have a nice day. Well, I just got off the phone with another one of their reps. This time however I told her I'd gotten multiple calls since I asked to be taken off of their list and that I was tired of it. She informed me that it could take up to 60 days to be removed from the list. What in the fuck is that! 60 days ??? I mean is that shit even legal? Their is no good explanation that it should take that long. I'm just fed up with this shit. What really burns even more than that is the recorded mother fuckers that you can't even ask to be taken off of their list since it's a god damn recording! I swear some of these companies are just out their to piss myself and others off.

I've gotten less than a call a month for the last 6 years since getting put on GTE's, now Verizon's no call list. I'm on the federal list too, didn't hcange anything.
The people calling you are most likely contractors for Wells Fargo, it doesn't pay them to get you off the list fast if at all. Call Wells Fargo directly.
If I don't know who it is I don't answer the phone, they can talk to my machine. If they're telemarketing from a blocked number they're breaking federal law IIRC.

First and foremost, get on the National DNC (do-not-call) list. It's free and it must be respected by all (legitimate) telemarketing companies.
Telemarketers only need to check the list once a month, so yes it could take some time to get purged from their lists. However, if you have done business with the company over the past 6 months I believe, then they can call you regardless of the list status. In this case, you can be asked to go on their internal list, but who knows how that process works. As was previously mentioned, almost all telemarketers are third-party vendors contracted by the businesses they telemarket for.
If you are looking to raise a complaint, it can be difficult but doable. I work closely with a company that does a lot of telemarketing, and they always get requests from their client companies for DNC purges. First thing is to get the caller ID information when you get called. By law, telemarketers are required to provide legitimate information over caller ID. Try calling the number that comes up on caller ID first and see where it gets you. It may be an inbound call center run by the same third-party vendor, or it may actually be within the soliciting company itself. What your goal should be is to get into some level of management at the soliciting company (in your case, Wells Fargo), because they aren't in the business to piss you off, and they can use this abuse information against the telemarketing contractors to get penalties payed, lower rates, etc.

Was getting hit bad until the national list was updated. I dont think I have had a telemarket call in a year or so now.
Plus I have grown tired of being nice, so when someone calls that I do not know or do not wish to hear talk to me I just hang up without a word.
