Kerry and Bush had similar grades

Post by Winnow »

From CNN today: Why John Kerry Wouldn't Sign Form 180
BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP) -- Sen. John F. Kerry's grade average at Yale University was virtually identical to President Bush's record there, despite repeated portrayals of Kerry as the more intellectual candidate during the 2004 presidential campaign.

Kerry had a cumulative average of 76 and got four Ds his freshman year -- in geology, two history courses and political science, The Boston Globe reported Tuesday.

Bwahahahaha! Bush had one D his entire time at Yale and Kerry had four his freshman year.

That Kerry...he's a keen one! Can't wait to see the next democrat they roll out for the presidential elections.Image

Loathe as I am to beat dead horses; did Kerry have the kind of connections w/ the board as the Bush clan?

Given his obvious awesome intellect, do you think perhaps Bush had a little help to hold that solid C+ average?

Call me a cynic, but if Bush was running against Bubbles the Monkey, Bubbles would also be portrayed as "the more intellectual candidate".

I guess its true what they say. It's harder to recover from being a war hero than it is to recover from being a drunken, draft dodging oil baron's son who buys their education.

That picture just gives me the creeps...

Kind of a cross between Moe, Lurch, and Anthony Perkins in Psycho, or maybe I'm thinking of Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs, where he is talking about Fava Beans... /shudder

He married a billionaire.
That = smart

Bush married into money as well.

Really?
Only info I could find was that her father was a real estate developer (houses). Nothing to indicate that the welch family was 'richer than shit'.

Got some links/info?

I'm curious.

It was my understanding that her parents had money but weren't "rich" like the Bushes or Heinz.

Kyo has made the best and most truthful post so far on this thread.

I was actually in a business meeting about a year ago with a Partner from Accenture who taught at Yale back when both Bush and Kerry were there. One of the big Republican leaders here asked him if he knew "W" and his reply was that "NO, Bush wouldn't have been able to take his classes because he really wasn't Yale material and barley passed. However Kerry did take some of his higher level Polysci and did very well in his later years" I fell out laughing which wasn't the best career move but I just couldn't help it.

Realistically, if Kerry got 4 D's his freshman year, and ended up with the same GPA as Bush, that means he improved his academic performance as he went through college.

Lots of people do that, it's an adjustment. To recover from a semester like that, he'd have to be doing decently by the time he was done.

SCOREBOARD:

Overall Score at Yale:

Bush 77 Kerry 76

I don't really care about the grades. The main point of all this is that Kerry hid his grades while calling out Bush. He's a weasel just like any other politician.

i dont really think so Winnow. i think the vast majority of Kerry voters probably wouldnt rank him as their first or even third choice. But he wasn't Bush, which apparently is not enough to win an election, because that's about all his campaign brought to the table.

I dont recollect the Kerry campaign 'calling out' Bush on his grades.
It might have been something the pundits discussed but I doubt it went any further than that.

Seebs, as usual, has a point. But in all fairness...take a look again at the picture of Kerry in this post. I hate to admit it, but Heinz is a catch for him and probably only him.

If Kerry had landed Paris Hilton, then he would have been "President Kerry". Both Hilton and Heinz are probably equally intelligent but he would have won the election with the slutty one as americans love gossip/drama.

Or you can go spend another year in therapy away from the boards or whatever it is you granola-eating hairy-armpitted dykes types do in your free time.

Yeah, yeah, I know, you are another one of the enlightened ones, smarter than us because you married outside your race. .blather ,blather, blather ... we'll never know your heartache and pain and what we conservatives have done to your fair commune. Wish I could empathize, wait, no, I'm glad I can't empathize. You're just another fat chick on Springer.

Kyoukan, to effect me, I honestly need to respect what you have to say. You are just another sign-holder, protesting World Trade and I can only hope that you are the next enlightened soul hit in the puss with a non-lethal rubber bullet.
I am just sorry some poor officer has to waste the time to fill out the paper work on your demise. I can only hope your purse spills out a few dollars in change so you can leave something tangible in this world, other than a chalk line.

I'm sure you'll be missed by groups like NOW, the Disenfranchised Youth of Florida, the Oprah Book Club, Amnesty International and The Hair Club for Al Sharpton.

In the meantime, we'll have angry women who were never hugged by their daddy and maybe hugged a little too closely by Uncle Happy Lap guest post in your name. It would have the same tone, meaning and lack of respect filled with the same man-hating vitriol. We'll hose them down after each post.

Now please step a few paces back and use your hemp douche .. You are starting to smell again.
