Demo Reel

Post by Sparty »

Hey fellas,
Well, I know this probably doesn't belong in this forum, but little Rico gave me permission to put it here. Anyway, this is my demo reel. Ive been studying computer animation a little over a year now, and would like to go into character modeling. Thats why this demo focuses almost entirely on modeling. This is basically what i'll be sending out to game and movie studios looking for a job. Yup, Sparty could be coming to a town near you! Run! =) Feel free to critique if you like. I still have a few things to fix. Also, sorry about the small resolution. I'll post a bigger version sometime in the future. Anyway, hope ya like it.

Your best bet is to probably right click and save as....
its about 21mb

My name is Sparty

edit: tried it without rightclick/save and it worked nicely in mozilla.
edit: updated with higher resolution. Still only 21 mb

Good stuff there Sparty.

Question: Im no animator/artist. Hell I cant even draw a circle, but how come they are not colored?

Do you animate or is that a different position? You just make the model and let others give it life?

Just curious.

Hey Diae,
Theres a few main areas of computer animation. Modeler (models all geometry and characters), Texture artist (adds color to everything), Setup artist aka rigger (adds joints to models so they can be animated. A lot like adding bones), and animator (brings life to everytihng).

At most large studios, youll be expected to do just one of these jobs. At smaller studios and most game studios you'll be expected to be able to do everything.

Ive done all and found modeling to be the most fun for me. And thats why my demo focuses almost soley on modeling.

Well, given that my apptitude is nil in artistry Im still going to give you an 8 out of 10. I think they look pretty bitch'in.

Id like to see them colored and in motion personally :) GET TO WORK! --hehe

I'm with the adding shaders/textures. :D

I haven't seen the video yet but will soon. I think that if you show you CAN do these things it'll help you a little as you are showing you are more versitile. Usually big game studios won't pick up people with previous prior experience unless you show something amazing, so the more you can show the better.

Hey Everyone,
Heres a link to my new reel (Aug/05). http://www.ericprovan.com/NewReel_360x240.mov
Either right click and save, or just open it.

I updated it just in time for my trip to LA for Siggraph. Anyone in LA area want to buy me a beer and drive me around all week for a handjob?

Enjoy. If you dont enjoy, I will cut off your legs and use them in an experiment that I have going to prove that who wear shorts, is indeed she wearing short shorts.

My name is Spartacus

Edit: I only give handjobs for bears, not beers.

Sparty needs a bear before he can enjoy a beer. A smoke is thrown in there somewhere as well.

Not bad except the goblin model is terribly unoriginal and your spider has 6 legs. :P

Why aren't you going to the Vanguard cattle call in Vegas this weekend?

Very impressed. Good luck.
