How is everyone's guild doing?

Post by Mort »

I think I got all the VV'ers who play on Cenarius in my crew, and we're getting ready to start beating MC ass. A lot of old school high end Veeshan players with us.

How many of you guys are MC/Onyxia stages of the game? And what are your opinions of said zones. Any major hurdles you've encountered? Not looking for spoilers or anything, just general opinions.

Would have been better had we played alliance on WW so we could hunt each other down, but oh well. I had tons of problems with WW when it first launched.

Onyxia still makes me cry. MC is pretty easy with paladins doing dispells.

We farm Onyxia and have done most of the MC bosses now. Our guild has about 50 active players.

I've been to MC a few times with a 2-guild effort. We've made it to Luciferon but haven't managed to beat him yet.

Quite a few of us have the Onyxia key but haven't attempted her yet.

My guild is farming Onyxia and MC regularly atm. We haven't gotten Ragnaros down yet, but I'm still looking forward to BWL for something to do on the days MC/Onyxia/Azuregos/Kazzak aren't up.

My guild on Gorgonnash is doing fine, but we aren't a high end raid guild (at the moment). We'll be working toward our UBRS keys pretty soon, but right now most of us like to just pvp with the occasional 5-10 man raid instance thrown in. I think our numbers just about tripled in the last month though with a lot of low levels joining so things might change later. We most likely will not be doing MC because half the guild can't make the time commitment, which is fine with me. I'm definitely not putting as much time into this game as I did with EQ, but I'm having quite a bit more fun.

Death Jesters on Stormrage are farming Onyxia, Kazzak, etc. We have also killed everything in MC except Ragnaros. We will be devoting this weekend to taking him down.

Also got our first Legendary loot from MC last week.

I'm an officer of Prophecy of Ascension on the Thunderhorn server... Onyxia/Kazzak/Azuregos on farm status, and we've cleared MC up to Geddon (someone always blows us up when he's under 25%). Finally got my Nightslayer pants last week from Mag, can't wait for next patch to go live cause the set looks like Stormshroud/Cadaverous atm!

My guild and our raiding partner guild downed Luciferon for the first time last night.

Tried Magmadar after and got pwned in a spectacular fashion.

Gratz me Cenarion Boots =)

MC is probably the most uninspired raid zone I've ever seen in my life. Onyx is better, but still not what I would call great. All the world bosses are utterly gimptastic because of the necessity of including "anti-zerg" mechanisms. Raiding in WoW leaves a lot to be desired.

I wish the fucking devs would have made some goddam better raid instances instead of stupid world bosses that NEED the anti-zerg code. And don't even get me started on the fact that a piece of the priest epic drops from motherfucking Lord Kazzoo, FORCING ME to participate in this stupid bullshit.

Last I heard they're fixing the Eye of Divinity and Mature Blue Dragon Sinew with the Battlegrounds Patch. If I'm not mistaken it will drop in the form of a container that anyone can open, whether or not they're in the raid, and it's a guaranteed drop, a la Araj's Scarab from the Andorhal quests. That fixes that "issue" I guess, but it also seems to negate the entire point of having to kill them if you ask me.

Overall, I agree with you distate for WoW's endgame at the moment. I think MC was dumbed down so that even the "casual" gamers or those less experienced can get a taste of the end game to see what it's about. Tigole has promised that BWL will be extremely difficult - this has my hopes lifted somewhat. The problem, however, is that it's not being released until sometime in 2009 knowing Blizzard.

You all made up your own strats right? Cause thats the main part of the challenge. So when you complain that MC is too easy or too casual, look around on your desk or in your browser favorites. If you've got a Conquest MC guide, you've thrown challenge out the door.

After Lucifron and Magmadar, Mute and I have made our own strategies for every encounter in MC we've killed since.

[hide]It was kind of funny actually... we had been killing Golemagg without pulling his adds far away (they offtanked about 5 feet away, heh) for the longest time until someone else found out about the Golemagg's Trust aura. We had killed him on our second attempt, so we never bothered to try to figure out; we just thought it was supposed to be an extremely healing intensive fight. After we discovered the aura, he seems easier than Lucifron. On top of that, I had been tanking without realizing that Magma Splash was triggered by attacks, instead of being a proc from Golemagg. Tanking with a -5000 ac debuff was interesting, burned through quite a few stoneshield potions.[/hide]

That aside, the point you bring up really is the issue I have with WoW content. In EQ, people generally kept information to themselves. In WoW any random person can just post on the Raid Forums with a thread along the lines of "OMGZ HELP ZPL ON SHAZRAH WUT R UR STRATZ?" followed by a stream of responses involving various strategies and information used. It seems like the only way to separate morons from talented players is encounters that have heavy emphasis on execution instead of strategy (Geddon is a decent example I guess; if a few people fuck up and bomb some key players, things can go haywire fast).

Hopefully Blackwing Lair will be as challenging as Tigole claims.

Edit: Hide tagged Golemagg information since I guess that's sort of hypocritical to complain about exactly that, even though at this point trying to hide MC information is fairly pointless.

Ixtlan took down Onyxia last night. I missed the battle myself, but I did just return from a much needed break. In MC we are on Baron Geddon.
