2005 VV Ultimate Badass - Nomination Phase

Post by noel »

In an effort to keep the geek level here as high as possible, we are starting nominations for a Bracketed, ULTIMATE BADASS thread.

As such, you will need to nominate your favorite ULTIMATE BADASSES from any genre. Then we will have some form of voting with the top 64 ULTIMATE BADASSES either by poll or write-in, to narrow down the field, so that we at Veeshanvault can determine the 2005 VEESHANVAULT ULTIMATE BADASS. The voting will be contextual. When you cast your vote, you will have to consider the context each particular badass occurs in, and take that in consideration.

(Yes this is by far one of the geekiest things I have ever been involved in, and I'm very embarassed that this was my idea, and I'm going to be chairing it. Also, if this goes well, we might have a coolest sci-fi/comic vehicle poll where you'll be able to decide if the Slave 1 > KITT < The Millineum Falcon. ><)

Since we've been discussing this in IRC, we have the following pre-nominees:

Wolverine - Xmen
Magneto - Xmen
Apocalypse -Xmen
Dark Phoenix - Xmen
Batman - DC comics
Boba/Jango Fett - Star Wars
Darth Vader - Star Wars
Jack Bauer - 24

Jules - Pulp Fiction
John McClane - Die Hard movies
Al 'Fucking' Swearengen - Deadwood

Jesus - The Bible etc.
Duke Leto II - Dune
Sandman - DC Comics or Spiderman/Avengers, Diae?
Q - Star Trek
Wanda and Cosmo - ???
Superman - Superman
Bruce Lee
The Incredible Hulk - Marvel Comics
Eric Cartman - South Park
The Midnighter - Stormwatch and The Authority fame

A hearty, 'Have a take and do not suck' to people nominating:
Megaman, Sonic the Hedgehog, Iron Chef Morimoto (great show tho), Ninja Turtles, Mr. T, McGuyver, anything suggested by that fag from Luclin, Billy Blanks, The Undertaker and I'm sure more to be added later.
Edit: PS - I'm taking serious nominees only. Leave your Felix the Cats and 'The A-team' off the thread. This thread is for geeks, not losers. :P

Edit2: Nominations will be over by Tuesday of next week. At that point, whoever wants to will select a list of either 32 or 64 characters. Those characters getting the most votes will be bracketed, and we'll start voting after that. At any point, you can explain why someone should or shouldn't win or lose, or be on the list at all, so you can sway your fellow geeks to your line of thinking. I'll update the master list at the end of each day, but voting will likely go quick.

Apocalypse shouldn't really be counted since he's a demigod or at least a quasi-divine entitiy.

Dude no one can beat Vader... well except Luke I guess.

We might should add in Gandalf though, he can kick some serious ass when necessary. I think even Vader would have problems with a Balrog.

Iron Chef Morimoto should be on that list too. He's wicked good with the knives.

I know/hope you're joking. Jesus was *not* a badass. Great dude, sure, but if he was a badass he wouldn't be letting mere humans string his ass up and stab him with spears after they nail his shit to a cross.

If Jesus was a badass he woulda flexed and smashed that cross down and beat some fucking ass with the splinters *while* that shit was still nailed to his hands.

WHO WANTS A PIECE NOW ROMAN MOTHERFUCKERS. But no...he just laid there and died like a good little monkey.

If you really have to go biblical go with Archangel Azrael/Gabriel. He is the motherfucker with the sword.

Some of you are fucking high. How can someone be a badass without killing anyone or at least having someone killed? I'm going to use a few people as examples here to illustrate the point, but I'm picking on your nomination, not you as an individual...

BA Baracus? When's the last time a bullet hit ANYONE on the A-team? The only thing badass about BA was the fact that he was angry through every single episode. Sorry, no.

McGyver? Sorry, he's too fucking nice to be a badass.

How about: Mickey O'Neil.
