This might be a useful thread eventually for people looking to find various binaries that are in oddball named newsgroups.
Using the Supersearch to find files in Newsleecher has the added benefit of discovering newgroups you wouldn't normally check. As part of the search returns, it displays what newsgroup the file is in.
Searching for a specific piece of art, I found
alt.binaries.amp
This group had 200K posts most of which were part of massive collections of artwork and pictures. I found some outstanding collections of fantasy artwork there last night. I mean several collections of 1,000+ fantasy artwork images posted together. I also downloaded a group of about 3,000 1600X1200 converted webshot images that I have no idea what I'm going to do with but they sure are pretty.
This is a case where downloading the actual group after using Supersearch is useful for finding artwork that you wouldn't know what to search for in the first place.
Anyway, there's also huge collections of model and celebrity pictures in the group but it's the various artwork collections that impressed me.
I only made it through half of the initial 50 day backlog of posts from my initial header download but ended up grabbing probably close to 10,000 images. The huge collections at once are a nice way to grab various themes of images.
This might not be immediately useful but at some point when you need pictures, you'll have a place to look! Since alt.binaries.amp isn't a place I'd think to look for this sort of thing so I figured I'd mention it.
Copernic works great for narrowing down and finding images on your hard drive quickly after grabbinb so many files : )
