Fun Quests

Post by Bubba Grizz »

I know that most if not all quests are posted on boards everywhere but I thought I would post a quest that I did that was really kind of fun.

Hoard
Location: The Barrens
Obtains: Just west of the Crossroads
Name: Counterattack

Basically to get this quest you would have had to have done the 3 previous quests to bring this guy the heads of the Centaur leaders. Once you accpet this quest it begins right away. The centaurs attack the outpost and the hoard defenders rush to fend them off. You join the fray and kill as many as you can without dying and after a bit the Warlord spawns with his little retinue of bodyguards. You need to kill the Warlord and get a piece of the banner that will appear as a posted flag after the battle. (Warlords corpse will poof)

I started this last night and found that I couldn't do it alone as a 23 Druid. I asked for help and an 18th level Warlock joined me who also had the quest. While I tanked in bear form holding the aggro on all the mobs in that pack he nuked and nuked and nuked. I died but did not release until I knew that the Warlord finally died. The warlock died not long after I did but he got the kill.

The quest only netted about 1950 exp and 25 s but it was fun fighting on the battlefield like that. I like that I could buff the defenders with Thorns and Armor. I think the key is to stay on the fringes of the battle until the big guy spawns. Then focus all firepower on him.

That was my fun quest of the day.

Best quest evar is the one in the orc/troll newbie area where you run around wacking lazy peons with a stick to make them work. :)

When you get to shimmering flats click on the race starter girl about 20 times, she gets pissed :)

I thought the Polly quest was pretty amusing.

And I once had to collect 30 human hearts for the royal apothecary society.. when I turned them in he said something to the effect of "My, what an abundance of gore you have brought me. How delightful!". It made me feel a giggly.

We called that quest the Hickopalypse

feeding the farmers dog poison in Hillsbrad Farms was excellent, I also love Hecular's revenge at the end where he spawns and starts pwning alliance. There was a time when me and Hecular would duo a ton of fuckin alliance n00bs in their graveyard and they would just crumble. Nowadays that entire area is high lvl pvp minefield. Hecular is outnumbered.

Mechanical Yeti is awesome.

Don't know if the horde gets this one but there is one in Searing Gorge, the Torch of Retribution line, with Kalaran Windblade, that has a cool ending too (just about shat when I saw it :p).

I liked the Alien Egg quest in Thousand Needles. When you turn in the egg, it hatches a flying snake that goes and eats the Dog that wanders in the village before flying off.

Oh, and can't leave out Test of Faith (think that was the name) also in Thousand Needles...I loved taking people there to do the quest the first time when they wonder why they were just told to jump off of a cliff.

I love the robot chickens, although I still have not done the Hinterlands one. CLUCK!

It was funny rescuing the dorf from the toilet in Searing Gorge...

And whacking the lazy orc peons with a stick is a winner as well. :)

I forgot about Hecular, damn that was funny. When I finished it early on Slyve (Xyun) came to help fend off the guards until I could do the ritual. Then Hec and his minions started spawning... I was too low to have a lot of fun with it, too many guards, but Slyve and Hec were gankin' newbies left and right, it was truly a blast to watch.

Horde gets it, too. Take a wild guess as to who designed that quest - Kalaran the Deceiver?

I did the Kalaran quest, but I didn't notice anything odd about the ending. There was a dragon spawned like right in front of him for like 3 days though so I think something was bugged. What was supposed to happen?

He's supposed to scrip something about you having exactly one fucking week to retrieve these items or he's quitting and taking his phat loots with him. Or something

Alliance quest between wetlands and arathi highlands. . .there is a dwarf who is stuck in the middle part of the destroyed bridge. You can only make it to him with sprint or a potion or slowfall etc. He needs his whiskey delivered to southshore because he fell asleep drunk in the bridge before it was destroyed. He is still drunk and doesn't even realize that the bridge was blown up. It is a timed quest to deliver his booze to the guy in the basement of the southshore inn.

The way its supposed to end (and does if you are the first one to complete the quest after a server reset), is that you report to Furor...er.. Kalaran that the towers are burning. He then morphs from the human to the dragon and yells out at the dorfs that he is coming to lay waste.

When we did this, we sure as hell weren't expecting a dragon to pop on our heads, non-aggro or not :p Sucks that when I have helped others along this quest the ending is bugged (i.e. dragon doesn't despawn so you miss the transformation).

The gnome/gobbie race in saltflats is one of my favorite settings. Very unique.
