multi boxing

Post by cadalano »

I'm considering starting a priest on my other copy of the game for two boxing.

Has anyone given multi boxing a try with this game? Is it feasible?

and what about powerleveling with a higher level character?

I've been considering it also, but have given up...

You can't really twink, other than mailing some gold, and that doesn't require a 2box...

You can't really powerlevel.. all you can do is provide some minor buffs depending on your class, and kill the mob if its getting dangerous.

Plus once you had them the same level.. it would be pretty tedious to manage both of them in combat....

I just hit level 20 yesterday, and a few hours later I'm 90% done with it.

It's feasible, but not practical. Or in the least bit neccesary for that matter, every class I've seen can solo reasonably efficiently.

It's just not worth the bother IMO considering the pace of the game.

The only reason might be fore elite quests but in that case just make sure you join a good guild where people will come help you if you need it. :)

Multi-boxing in WoW can be done, but it would be a difficult task, to say the least, unless you learned the macro language and created almost a 'bot' rather then a 'second' character. Each class it seems takes quite a bit of interaction based on cooldowns and other situations so without your 'second' being more of a 'bot' I think you would be either wasting your time or pulling your hair out in frustration.

Can it be done? Absolutely, but honestly I see no real benefit to it in WoW except as noted above (Quest help).

With the mail system can you email gear to another character of yours? Is there any problem with that? Like if I wanted to make a bunch of potions and send them over to my other guy that'd work alright?

Just remember, items take an hour to travel through the mail, gold transfers immediately. So if you are in a hurry, say to get potions before hitting an instance, it will be faster to just send money and pick some potions up from the AH.

I do it all the time. When my bank gets full, I mail stuff to my alt, click Return when my alt gets it. Thanks extra storage! As long as you dont open the mail upon return it can sit in your mailbox for 30 days.

OR your alt, twink, secondary or whatever you want to call it can open it and put it in their bank which is what I usually do. All my alts, heh 8 of them, have excellent equipment for their level as I usually mail them stuff they can use... of course it probably would have been better for me to sell the stuff as I progressed and I would probably have a mount right now rather than 15G :(

Try having an enchanter as your alt :(

Multi-Boxing is one of the things I fucking hated about EQ. It helped ruin the game, IMO.

how so? what about the people who enjoyed it?

When I left Veeshan, there were still things I wanted to do... I picked up a bard and a shaman on a different server and enjoyed another two months of the game..

What about Eudas? You think he could've played only one character? Jeez, he played 5 characters sometimes better than 5 people playing 5 characters.

I miss multi-boxing.. and I miss show-eq.

That the game was so slow paced for some classes that a bot could be nearly as effective as a person at the keyboard was a big problem(in hindsight).

considering I used to 5 box or 6 box in EQ pretty easy with just 5 and a little tough with 6, I can not 2 box to well in WoW. I don't recommend it since it is to me a fast paced game.

You could play 5 instances of a game at once but have trouble forming complete, coherent sentences. Have you ever seen a movie by the name of Rain Man?

we do have some people that 2 box.

I 2-box my shaman friend with success. In caves and tunnels it can get to be a real pain in the ass.

a properly prepared warrior does not need to box at all though. as i have soloed 75% of my 38 levels so far.

I guess you could 2 box if you just wanted a heal bot. But, that character would be about useless other than heals. And, there is not much non elite content you can't take out solo unless you are being retarded or it is 4+ levels above you. Even then, the very minor bonus exp gained by killing something that much higher is not worth the time and cussing spent trying to do it.

doable? yes. Practical? no. There is too much involved to play good. lot more than pointing yourself at the mob and hitting A.

2 boxing a warrior and a priest atm. Macros are your friend, I can run the priest from the ten key and usually go hours between even looking at the other screen. The priest is by far not as efficient as a real player would be but I think that’s just my lack of macros. She can heal or nuke, change targets on the fly or even melee if needed. From someone who use to 6 box on raids in EQ I must say, 2 boxing in WoW effectively is harder then 4 to 6 boxing in EQ.
