Superbowl Pool

Post by Midnyte_Ragebringer »

Price - 500 VV's

If you wish to play, you have to post your intentions to play here. DO NOT post your predictions here.....others will see it and adjust their predictions.

The Game - You have to pick the winner and the exact score.

For example: Patriots 57 Eagles 49

Then for tie breaking situations, post the exact passing yards for each team.

Payment can be sent via the DONATE button to me. In the description field include predictions.

These need to be by the end of the day January 31st. February 1st I will post everyones predictions. Winner takes the whole pot.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Also, I would like to play so I will have to post my prediction now to keep this on the up and up.

********
Patriots 34
Eagles 23

Patriots 287 yards passing
Eagles 213 yards passing
********

Nice idea Mid but you may not get too many people messing around with Paypal etc on this.

I'll probably do one of those football score grids at work where you pay whatever the entry is per square and buy slots on a grid 0-9.

With Chad Lewis going down for the Eagles, I may place a decent sized online sportsbook bet on the Patriots if the spread looks attractive. Unfortunately, I think the Eagles don't stand a chance without their premier receiving TE and a rusty TO if he plays at all.

Losing Chad Lewis is a big blow for the Eagles.

Yeah. I thought it was a great idea, but you are probably right.

Let's get rid of the money aspect.

Let's go with 500 VV's.

Send the VV's to me along with your predictions.

I will have to beg someone to send me free VV's to even play LOL.

Let's get this going ya'll !!!

hmmm.

I believe I win.

I was closest to the score of four of us who were not close hehe.

Great game guys.

Lost a lot of respect for McNabb though. He sure throws a lot more balls falling down and off balance than I thought. He needs a lot of work.

Also, I really gained a lot of respect for TO. He sure can be an "all about ME" player many times, but god damn, did he play like a stud last night. For him to heal that fast and play the way he did should go down as one of the gutsyest(not even a word) performances in superbowl history.

TO gained a new fan last night.

I don't know about you but I thought the Patriots using the flapping bird celebration after their TD's made them look kind of foolish. T.O. was working them on the field on a gimp ankle. It shows how much TO can get under the opposition's skin.

TO made some great catches and bailed out McNabb on an overthrown crossing route pass he had to jump for.

I haven't had the chance to listen to some analyst opinions as of yet, but from what I gathered watching it in my alcohol induced state:

McNabb makes terrible judgments when he gets chased out of the pocket. Not that he can't make a killer play, but he forces the throw far too often, especially considering how fast of a runner he is. He's an awesome athelete and his last td thrown was fucking amazing (thanks point spread victory!)
TO did well but it was obvious that Belichick was not going to allocate two backs to cover him. He was single covered all night and was given soft coverage to prevent him from scoring 7.
The defenses played great overall.
NE was able to answer a score each time they needed to.
Taking over four minutes to score 10 back and only 6ish minutes to go was ridiculous. The only thing I can think of is Reid had zero confidence in leading a successful two minute drill.
I wasn't a fan of the onside kick considering they had 2 timeouts left.

Do the Eagles lose anyone? Sure looks like they can be the team to beat next year if they stay healthy (but that's really the key for any team to win, aka Carolina).

McNabb made a lot of terrible decisions with the ball. For instance with 47 seconds left throwing the ball to a back at the line of scrimmage in the middle of the field with no time outs left.

They should have started no huddle offense at 6+ minutes. They probably wasted 40%+ of the clock in that last segment of the game simply getting to the line of scrimmage and having a play called.

not having 2 plays called in the huddle on the final drive of the Super Bowl when you have no times outs left and you are coming off of a commercial break is ridiculous.

they should have had 4 plays called. shit. hell why do they even need to have plays called at that point. Go Deep gentlemen.

Highlight of the Superbowl for me: Rodney Harrison having 2 INTs (and a sack), which is more receptions than that absolute clown Freddie Mitchell had.

Freddie Mitchell has made like 2 catches worht a fuck in his whole career and he thinks he's Jerry Rice.

He never once drew double coverage and while he put up some OK numbers, his contributions held no bearing on the outcome of the game.
Also, his 'injury' was probably blown way out of proportion by the media.

I don't really dislike the guy. He's an exceptional athlete and a tremedous competitior. I simply think that's he's way too overhyped by the media. I'm sick of hearing about the guy.

Jeeze you're a classic liberal...can't you just accept that TO had a good game? We already went over that the catches he made were above average. Coverage had nothing to do with it, catching McNabbs poor passes did.

He's not overhyped. He had 14 TDs and 1200+ yards in 13 games.

Check his stats over the past 5 years.

Think what you want, but when the most boring, personality wise, team in the NFL is in the Superbowl for the third time in four years, the networks need something to hype and TO at least backs up the hype with his performance.

I don't even know why I'm bothering to respond to your antagonistic crap.... but here goes.

TO is overhyped because even when he's not playing... sitting on the sidelines in civvies... the fucking cameras are glued to him and the announcers can't stop talking about him and completely ignoring the game being played on the field. I saw 3 Eagles games on TV this year and I got so god damn sick of hearing about Terrell Owens. I don't give a flying fuck about his personal life or whatever dumbshit he said in a press conference about an opposing team... I don't wanna see a 30 second video clip of him driving up to practice in his hummer.. interrupting the football game people are trying to watch. Overhyped... get it?

I'm not talking about the superbowl, the whole event is the epitome of hype. I'm a sports fan, not a hype fan. If I want hype, I'll tune in WWE. I actually watch the football game that happens at the end of the superbowl.

TO thought of it first and it was great when he used it during the Raven game. (talk about overhyped and overrated...Ray Lewis fit that description this year) Patriots were just a bunch of copycats. They should have broken out sharpies as well.

I understand the mocking part and TO should be able to take it if he dishes it out but it didn't seem effective with him doing so well in the game. I can't recall if there were helmets on the field for both teams, but if there were, a Patriot running out to midfield and putting the ball on the Eagle helmet after a TD would be a nice mocking of his actions in Dallas a few years back.

Doesn't seem like TO is the type of guy who will lose sleep over others mocking him.

In fact, none of the eagles interviewed seem to be overly worked up about actually losing the damn game, McNabb especially. TO had to tell him to get his shit together after he gave up another pick yet McNabb didn't think he played poorly.

The more i have heard from McNabb this offseason the more i dislike him, and I want to like him. Cause as RUsh knows, I'm a liberal and I just want to see the guy do better than the Whitee.

but anyway, before the NFC Championship McNabb was like "All the pressure is on Atlanta"

em...no it isnt dumbass.

After the NFC Championship, on that Monday morning Sportscenter, he had some type of posed hip hop posture with his arms crossed and his head cocked.

then to say after this game that "nobody expected us to be here"

huh?!

yeah outside of everybody on your team saying it is basically Superbowl or bust and you having the best team in the NFC....yeah nobody expected you to be in the Superbowl.

He sure does say some wierd shit when he is feeling a little media pressure. He also throws balls in the ground when he is feeling pressure from linebackers.

Disliking McNabb because you disagree with his estimation of others opinion of his team is pretty ludicrous.

Did you hear Rodney Harrison talking about how everyone picked the Eagles to win and no-one gave New England a chance?

Lets not forget who started the whole bird wave taunt. Yes, it was T.O. himself after he caught his first two passes (for 7 and 8 yards). The Pats only mocked T.O. after he taunted them short gain plays. The Pats then used the Eagle mock when they made big plays from thereonafter. If T.O. is gonna taunt them on 7 yard plays (no matter how charged up he may have been), I see no problem with the Pats' mocking T.O. on every big play (int, fumble,TD).

I regularly am a T.O. hater but I respect the guy for what he did. I can't really say anything bad about him and his effort in the superbowl. On another note, shame on Freddie Mitchell and his lame ass. Talks a big talk and calls out Rodney Harrison a week before the game. Then in the game, Rodney catches more passes from McNabb (2 ints) than Mitchell (1 rec). The Eagles' fans need to run that guy out of town.

P.S. Harrison should have been the MVP (7 tackles, 2 ints, and key reason for the forced fumble as he held Smith up while gay punched the ball loose).

Owens didn't do the eagle flap until he broke a catch-and-run for a big gain. He did do it first though.

Harrison did play great and probably deserved the MVP.

I hate TO....and yet I was amazed at what he accomplished with the injury he had. The doctors did not even clear him to play. To play at a very high level against the number 2 defense in the NFL while having a broken bone in you rleg and 5 screws holding your ankle together ranks right up there with Schilling having his ankle stitched together to pitch.....possibly even higher. He risked his career and income because he knew....like everyone else...that the Eagles had absolutely zero chance without him playing.
