Dave Gorman is doing a 3-week run in LA in march/april, other US dates will be announced soon (he just did 3 months off-Broadway) and the DVD is out now. Do yourself a favor and catch this, somehow. It'll blow you away.At the age of 31 I decided to give up my stupid ways, grow a beard and write a novel. I guess this show is the story of my failure to do two of those things. (Yes, I have a beard)
All sorts of unpleasantness could have been avoided if other people had told me not to do it. Instead, they took me seriously. Meetings were set up, deals were done and a novel was commissioned.
To make matters worse, a publisher even gave me a chunk of money as an advance on the project. This was an exceedingly stupid thing to do. Needless to say, the novel doesn't exist and I've spent the money. What on?
On a googlewhack adventure.
It started when I received an e-mail from a stranger telling me that I was a googlewhack. I didn't know what a googlewhack was. Now I do.
A googlewhack is what happens when two words are entered in to Google and it comes back with one and only one hit. So when the stranger told me that I was a googlewhack, he didn't mean that my name Dave Gorman was one... he meant that my website contained one.
At the time, googlewhacking seemed to be a pleasant enough distraction. Just something to do while sitting at my computer thinking about how to start writing my novel. I had no idea it was about to take over my life. I tried to resist it but things happened. Lots of things.
Now, the adventure is over. Googlewhacking has taken me around the world. Three times. I've played table tennis with a nine year old boy in Boston, and I've been way too familiar with some snakes in LA. I've met mini-drivers in North Wales and hippies in Memphis.
I've grown a beard and failed to write a novel. But to show for it I've got a story to tell. In fact it's a story I've got to tell if I'm going to try and pay back my publishers.

Dave Gorman's Googlewhack
This has to be one of the funniest, smartest and most mindboggling comedy shows I have ever seen. From the blurb on Dave Gorman's website:
IT'S HARD TO PUT YOUR FINGER ON IT; SOMETHING IS WRONG

Drolgin introduced me to Dave Gorman in May of this year. I can't remember the last time I saw something this funny. I was literally in tears for 5 to 10 minutes. Well worth the money. If he was coming to Atlanta, I'd be there!
